Brisbane-based jockey being assessed for severity of head injury after Grafton fall.
Leah Kilner remains in a coma in a critical condition in a Brisbane hospital as a result of head injuries sustained in a fall at Grafton on Sunday.
The 24-year-old was airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital after falling when her mount Stella's Turn suffered a catastrophic leg injury in the third race on the card.
She underwent surgery on Sunday to relieve pressure on the brain and is continuing to be assessed.
Australian Jockeys Association director and national OH&S officer Kevin Ring has been in regular contact with Kilner's father Greg, a trainer a Grafton, and said the update at around 9.30am Monday was that is was a case of 'wait and see'.
"They're just letting her brain rest at the moment, which is why they've put her in an induced coma," Ring said.
"At this stage it's a matter of wait and see, but she's in the best hospital in the country as far as spinal and head injuries go from the experience I've had."
Kilner, who is nearing the end of time as an apprentice and is on-loan to Robert Heathcote, has had more than 1700 race rides for 204 victories and 387 placings.
