Hobart specialist We Deserve This lived up to the reputation with an emphatic win in a benchmark 68 handicap over 1600 metres.
The Scott Brunton-trained five-year-old won a BM60 two starts prior and was a game third at her subsequent outing behind in-form gelding Johnny Chutzpah in a BM68 (1430m) two weeks ago.
"We keep this horse to Hobart meetings because he races well here and can't go a yard elsewhere," Brunton said.
It was a very good ride from Troy (Baker) and he rode to instructions that were meted out by one of the horse's part-owners Richie "Bear" Robinson who has been providing speed maps for the stable for the past six months.
"I had conversations with Troy (Baker) last Tuesday and suggested we sit outside of Clifton Danseur and make it work and then hopefully skip away in the straight and that's how it panned out," Robinson said.
Brunton said he hadn't mapped out a program for We Deserve This but insisted it would be in Hobart.
