Navy Cross gave Adrian Bott his first Magic Millions Subzero (2200m) last year, and Gai Waterhouse her third, and they will have Zoumon, Too Much Caviar and Splendiferous line up in this year's $1 million staying feature.

The training duo boast the current favourite for the third race at the Gold Coast with Zoumon, who ran fourth in last year's Group 1 ATC Derby (2400m) to Hitotsu, and co-trainer Adrian Bott believes he is the right type of horse for the race.

"Although he disappointed last start as favourite he's been back to the trials and was excellent, he's got a good pattern for this type of race and I think he's coming through the right race," Bott said.

As is customary with many of the stable's horses, all three of their chances like to race on the speed, and Too Much Caviar has used his speed to great effect, winning his past two starts.

"Too Much Caviar has been excellent, (he) keeps improving, he saw out a strong race last start, should handle the step up in trip," Bott said.

Similarly, Splendiferous likes to find the front but was brought undone by early work and a fast tempo last start at Rosehill, but Bott believes she's on the right track.

"She just takes a few runs to get into form and hit her peak, but she's been improving each time out," Bott said.

As well as their strong hand in the Magic Millions 2yo Classic (1200m), Waterhouse & Bott, the stable also have Marching, a later-blooming two-year-old in the inaugural 'The Debut' worth $500,000 for two-year-olds having their first start.

"He's been excellent, he's shown plenty of speed in his trials, I thought this type of race would suit him around here, (he) gets the blinkers on, had a few nice trials to prepare him but he's in good shape. He's got the speed to put himself there," Bott said.
