Doull has opened his autumn account with a stylish win at Sale.

Anthony and Sam Freedman have taken high-priced yearling Doull to the country to get that winning feeling back ahead of bigger autumn riches. 

A $1.2 million yearling purchase, Doull took out The Morning Crew on TR FM 3YO Handicap (1008m) at Sale on Wednesday. 

A debut winner at Flemington ​​​​​​last May, Doull then competed in quality three-year-old company, all at Flemington, during the spring. 

He finished fifth to Buenos Noches in the Listed Poseidon Stakes in September, ran fourth to Giga Kick in the Group 2 Danehill Stakes and then was spelled after finishing in a rearwards position in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes during Melbourne Cup week. 

Ridden by Daniel Moor, Doull was sent out the $1.50 favourite in his 2-½ length win over Starconi ($7.50) with Walter Spur ($5.50) a half-length away third. 

Sam Freedman said the plan for Doull was to likely head back to Flemington on March 11 for an 1100m race up the straight. 

"He was very good. He was nice and relaxed, and we wanted him to have a nice experience today," Freedman told racing.com. 

"Daniel trialled him last time out and we wanted to be smooth on him, let him get into a rhythm. He was very strong, but the best part was that he relaxed very well. 

"I think he was just getting into his work on the line and around the corner he was getting into his work again. 

"He's a lovely horse that is destined to get back to a very good level. 

"He's a big striding horse and he doesn't give the impression that he's just a 1000-metre horse. 

"He gives the impression he will be capable of stretching out over a bit of ground."
