Prize-money for the two-day event is forecast to exceed $31 million and organisers are delighted at the return visit to the area. Breeders' Cup president and chief executive Drew Fleming remarked that the organisation has always been a strong supporter of California racing and is looking forward to the showcase.

At the 2021 meeting, Yibir, Space Blues and Modern Games claimed victories for C Appleby, William Buick and Godolphin respectively. Japan also made history when Loves Only You triumphed in the Filly & Mare Turf and Marche Lorraine won the Distaff, both under the guidance of Oisin Murphy.

Del Mar opened in 1937 and has an illustrious history, having previously produced a win for Aidan O'Brien in the Juvenile Turf with Mendelssohn in 2017. The venue is in close proximity to San Diego, whose mayor, Todd Gloria, was thrilled to have the Breeders' Cup back in the area and the chance to showcase the region to fans and industry leaders.

The Breeders' Cup are promising unforgettable races when they return to Del Mar in 2024 and the date has already been set for the 1st and 2nd of November. With $31 million in prize money, the world's eyes will undoubtedly be on California in the next few years.
