3YO Rubbleonthedouble landed some good bets when winning his first race at his fifth start in Devonport on Sunday.

Having his third run from a spell, Rubbleonthedouble opened at $15 but was heavily backed to start the second favourite at $6.50 and despite a wide run proved way too good for his rivals in the Goodstone Group Maiden (1150m).

Rubbleonthedouble was ridden by David Pires and is trained by Siggy Carr.

"We know the horse has got ability, his first run he had a little bit go wrong, we ran him over 1350m, we probably made an error there, dropped him back to 1150m last start, he didn't have much luck, so it was good to see him show the ability we know he has," Carr said.

"We tinkered with his gear, we added a tongue tie today and he had blinkers added last start.

"He likes Devonport, he trialled up well behind Bello Beau here one day so we were pretty confident today would suit him. He doesn't like any give in the ground so he will probably have another run up here or head to the paddock and get him back when the tracks are better."

Another well backed winner was Tiltherewarsyou who started at $8.50 after opening $17. Tiltherewarsyou always travelled well for jockey Kelvin Sanderson in the Winning Edge Presentations BM60 (1150m) and hit the front just after straightening to win by a length from Roderick's Secret ($51 to $26) who flashed home late with Lord Whitegate ($12 to $9) third.

Tiltherewarsyou has always shown a liking for the synthetic track with four of her five career wins in Devonport, all four wins at the track have been over 1150m.

Father and son strike early

Trainer Adam Trinder and jockey Brendon Mccoull combined to win the 2YO Maiden (1150m) with the lightly raced but highly

promising Valiant Khan. After a first-up fourth 10 days ago, Valiant Khan ($4.60) grabbed the lead late to win by a neck. His heavily backed stablemate Rubick's Affair ($2.15 to $1.40) was with the leaders around the turn but wilted to run fourth.

Trinder's father Michael also had success with his stable newcomer Macs Relaxed who broke his maiden status at his first start for the new stable. Macs Relaxed was rock-hard fit for his first run since October last year and sat outside the leader before surging to win by 3/4 length.

"He's been a nightmare to get going and he has limited talent," Trinder said of the $7 chance.

Le Blanc capitalises on opportunity

Fly-in apprentice jockey Hannah Le Blanc made the most of a pick-up ride to score on the John Blacker trained Martini Blue in the Tasmanian Horse Transport Class 1 (1650m).

Wearing blinkers for the first time, Martini Blue, ($10 to $6) sat three-wide with cover before getting the upper hand in the last 100m. Le Blanc replaced Taylor Johnstone who missed the meeting due to illness.

Jockeys Kelvin Sanderson and Anthony Darmanin shared riding honours with a double each, the training spoils were equally shared.

Brendon McCoull and David Pires each rode a winner, McCoull holds a two win break over Pires in the race to win the jockeys' premiership with four meetings to go.
