Listed placegetter Battleton will be in familiar territory at Randwick.

A week after ending a 21-month drought from the winner's circle, Battleton will step out over the same course and distance in the hope that lightning can strike twice. 

Trainer Bjorn Baker confirmed the four-year-old would back-up in Saturday's TAB Handicap (1400m) at Randwick in a bid to capitalise on the confidence gained when he burst from the pack to nab the in-form Resonator last weekend. 

"He is up in grade to a benchmark 88, but he looks to get a nice run from the gate and hopefully we can replicate his win last week with the same track, same distance as last Saturday," Baker said. 

"It was very good to see that win, as much as anything for the owners because they've been very patient with him." 

Not only is Baker taking Battleton back to the scene of his most recent triumph, he is also replicating another pattern that has worked in the past. 

The only other time the horse has raced on a seven-day turnaround was when he followed a second to Mazu in the 2021 Brian Crowley Stakes (1200m) with a fine fifth to Home Affairs in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington. 

It will be a different scenario for stablemate and two-year-old Canadian Ruler, who heads to the Inglis Race Series Closing Handicap (1400m) having been given a month between runs. 

After claiming his maiden at Bathurst in May, the youngster made the leap to Saturday city grade last month when he beat all but the highly regarded Chris Waller-trained filly Tutta La Vita over 1400m at Rosehill. 

He has been kept up to the mark with a recent barrier trial and Baker is banking on Canadian Ruler's natural gate speed to help him overcome an awkward draw in barrier 12. 

"He's a definite chance. He's got to overcome a wide barrier, but he rolls forward, that's the way he races, and he's got good tactical speed," Baker said. 

"His work has been very good. We haven't had to do a whole heap, so from that point of view, very happy. 

"We'll see what happens Saturday and go from there." 

Canadian Ruler will be one of two Darby Racing juveniles in action for Baker on Saturday with last-start Mudgee winner Line Of Fire heading interstate to tackle the Byerley Handicap (1800m) at Flemington.
