Ladbrokes Blog: Ipswich Preview – 29th November 2023

3 minute read

Queensland midweek racing takes us to the Ipswich Turf Club this Wednesday where eight races are scheduled to be run.

The rail is out 8m the entire course while the track at time of publication is rated a Good 4.

However, rain is forecast so a downgrade is more than likely.

We've provided our selections for each race below.

RACE 1 - 2:18PM: QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate (1350 METRES)

Bremerhaven (9) has finished in the placings at both her career starts and looks close to a win.

The Tony Gollan-trained filly worked home well on debut for third over 1200m at this track.

She then was unwanted in betting last start but tried hard after leading to go down by just a head over this course and distance.

With added fitness and a good barrier, she should be fighting out the finish.

1 Unit – Bremerhaven (9)

BET NOW: Ipswich Race 1

RACE 2 - 2:53PM: Fillies & Mares BENCHMARK 65 Handicap (1200 METRES)

Heroic Miss (1) hasn't run a bad race this preparation and again looks one of the leading contenders in this race.

The Chris Munce-trained daughter of Heroic Valour was beaten a lip over this course and distance when resuming four starts ago.

Since then, she has run on strongly in a $100k Class 1 for third at the Sunshine Coast before dominantly winning at Gatton two starts back.

She was last seen finishing fourth at Doomben a month ago and has been back to the trials where she put in a nice piece of work to win.

From the inside gate Cejay Graham, who claims 2kg, can give her the run of the race.

1 Unit – Heroic Miss (1)

BET NOW: Ipswich Race 2

RACE 3 - 3:28PM: Maiden Plate (1200 METRES)

Drialle (1) was luckless when having his first start for Barry Lockwood after previously racing with Ron Quinton in New South Wales.

He was heavily backed in the 1100m Doomben contest and looked to be running on strongly, but Martin Harley went for a gap in the straight that soon closed which saw him drop out to finish fifth by 2.01 lengths.

He'll strip fitter second-up and the rise to 1200m suits.

The wide gate could be a positive given it will allow him to get clear air easier.

1 Unit – Drialle (1)

BET NOW: Ipswich Race 3

RACE 4 - 4:03PM: Maiden Plate (1200 METRES)

Shot Out (12) hit the front in the straight last start when resuming over this course and distance but she was overpowered late by Booga Ray who had a fitness advantage.

The Peter Robl-trained three-year-old filly will strip fitter second-up.

Last preparation she went within a nose of winning her second run back so there is a precedence for a bold showing.

She has the speed to go forward from barrier 3 and find a prominent position for Jag Guthmann-Chester.

1 Unit – Shot Out (12)

BET NOW: Ipswich Race 4

RACE 5 - 4:38PM: Colts, Geldings & Entires BENCHMARK 65 Handicap (1200 METRES)

A Lot Of Booty (10) has won once and placed in three other races this preparation and that consistency will stand him well in this field where most horses have their convictions.

The Jack Duncan-trained four-year-old gelding won over 800m here four starts back before a close second over this course and distance three starts ago.

His most recent third to John Rambo at Doomben reads like good form for this race.

Jimmy Orman can settle just behind the leaders and give his horse every chance.

1 Unit – A Lot Of Booty (10)

BET NOW: Ipswich Race 5

RACE 6 - 5:13PM: BENCHMARK 68 Handicap (1700 METRES)

Binding (9) is on the quick back-up after finishing fourth by 1.22 lengths at Doomben last start.

The Lee Freedman-trained So You Think mare led over the 1660m trip but was run down in the final furlong.

The last time she backed up quickly, she won over a similar distance at Eagle Farm last preparation.

Sam Collett takes the ride and will look to counter the wide gate by rolling forward early.

1 Unit – Binding (9)

BET NOW: Ipswich Race 6

RACE 7 - 5:48PM: Class 5 Handicap (1100 METRES)

Hardware Lane (1) impressed when winning a Class 6 over this course and distance two starts back.

The John Shelton-trained gelding settled handy before proving too strong in the run home.

He gave a good account of himself last start when finishing fifth by 2.8 lengths in a Saturday Class 6 over 1200m at the Sunshine Coast.

While he rises in weight, he will appreciate the drop in class and he loves getting his hoof into the ground.

Justin Huxtable can settle handy from barrier 2.

1 Unit – Hardware Lane (1)

BET NOW: Ipswich Race 7

RACE 8 - 6:25PM: Class 1 Handicap (1350 METRES)

Easy Company (8) should be ready to peak third-up after an improved showing last start.

The Stu Kendrick-trained mare can be forgiven for failing first-up at Doomben as she was never on the track.

She bounced back last start when finding the line well to finish fourth by 1.8 lengths over this course and distance in a stronger class race.

Any rain about will not worry her as she did win here last preparation on a heavy track.

1 Unit – Easy Company (8)

BET NOW: Ipswich Race 8
