A big weekend of racing in the west culminates on Monday with the Perth Cup.

A huge weekend of racing kicks off at Pinjarra this weekend, but with four of the 8 races there Maiden grade, it's hard to tip into with any real confidence.

Over to Monday where the nine races on offer at Ascot are superb! There's competitive racing right across the card, with the La Trice Classic and Summer Scorcher the perfect entree to the Perth Cup!

It's a very competitive Cup this year. Casino Seventeen meets his rivals better at the weights thanks to the race conditions this time and looks the obvious top pick.

Set for this race all the way through and he seems to be peaking at the right time with Pike back in the saddle on Monday.

I liked the way Truly Inspired finished off in a farcically-run A.T.A Stakes and finished fourth in the 2023 Cup. The seven-year-old is going just as good as he was last year and may be worth a little nibble at big odds!

As for Best Bets on the card, I'm keen to be with HANCHI in the final event of the day.

The three-year-old was good in the Placid Ark and backed up that effort with a sharp win as favourite over the 1000m trip last time out.

Stepping back out in trip shouldn't worry him and he looks well placed from the inside draw for Chris Parnham.

He continues to improve every time he goes to the races, and he'll take plenty of beating if he continues on the same trajectory.
