Linden Tree moves to second in NSW Picnic Champion Series

3 minute read

The Connie Greig-trained Linden Tree has atoned for a narrow defeat at his previous start by claiming the Inland Petroleum Condobolin Picnic Cup (1400m) on Saturday.

Linden Tree had been beaten in a photo finish in the Bedgerabong Picnic Cup by Tupou but was a clear winner at Condobolin when ridden by Leandro Ribeiro ($3 favourite), defeating his stablemate Valadyium (John Wilson, $6.50) by a length and a half.

The Rodney Robb-trained Red Impulse (Mr Anthony Williams, $3.60) finished third a head away from the first pair.

Six-year-old Linden Tree picked up 10 points for his effort and moves into second place in the 2024 NSW Picnic Champion Series point score.

The Natalie Jarvis, Moruya-trained California August remains the leader on 24 points ahead of Linden Tree (19 points), Ashley Gibson's Foxstorm (18pts) and the Debbie Prest, Cowra-trained Blinkin Nomore (17pts).

The next chance to earn points will be at YASS PICNICS on Saturday (24th February).
