A total of 188 nominations have been weighed for the 159th running of the now $4,000,000 The Star Doncaster Mile (Group 1) (1600m) to be staged on Day 1 of The Championships at Royal Randwick on Saturday, 6th April 2024.

Heading the weights is six-time Group 1 winner Mr Brightside (NZ), who has been allocated topweight of 59.0kg on a 50.0kg minimum (49.0kg for three-year-olds).

Mr Brightside is the current champion and previous winner of the 2022 and 2023 Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m), 2023 Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m), 2023 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m), 2024 Group 1 Orr Stakes (1400m) and 2024 Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m).

Next in line on 58.0kg are Serifos (JPN) and Voyage Bubble.  Serifos is a winner of the 2022 Group 1 Mile Championship (1600m) run at Hanshin Racecourse in Japan. Voyage Bubble won the 2024 Group 1 Stewards Cup (1600m) run at Sha Tin Racecourse in Hong Kong.

Other notable entries are Zaaki (GB) allocated 57.5kg, who won the 2021 Group 1 Doomben Cup (2000m), 2021 Group 1 Underwood Stakes (1800m) and the 2021 and 2022 Group 1 Mackinnon Stakes (2000m).

Think About It with 57.0kg, won the 2023 Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) and is the current 2023 The Everest Champion (1200m). Obamburumai (JPN) the 2023 Golden Eagle winner, has been asked to carry 55.0kg.

The highest weighted mare with 57.0kg is the multiple Group 1 winner Fangirl. The list of her wins includes the 2022 Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (1850m), 2023 Group 1 Winx Stakes (1400m), 2023 Group 1 King Charles III Stakes (1600m) and she recently won the 2024 Group 2 Apollo Stakes (1400m).

Other high-rated mares are Pride Of Jenni, who will be asked to carry 55.5kg, Atishu (NZ), allocated 54.5kg and Duais with 53.5kg. All three mares have won at Group 1 level.

Militarize (NZ) is the highest-rated three-year-old and will be asked to carry 54.0kg. Militarize is the winner of the 2023 Group 1 Sires' Produce Stakes (1400m), the 2023 Champagne Stakes (1600m) and the 2023 Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m).

Heading the weights for the three-year-old fillies is Quintessa (NZ) with 49.5kg, Quintessa is the winner of the 2024 Group 1 Levin Classic (1600m).

The 2023 Group 2 The Ingham (1600m) winner Loch Eagle has been allocated 51.0kg and the 2023 Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m) winner Tropical Squall with 49.0kg are currently the only two horses exempt from ballot.
