Winning Trainer: Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr
Mick Price:
On the ride: "When Sissoko went forward I thought 'oh what's going to happen here' and then of course Stacky (Daniel Stackhouse) stacked them, twelve and a half second furlongs there so it was a perfect ride because every conversation I had with D Lane about this horse today was 'go straight to the front, they'll leave you alone, then you'll get every chance. As the good jockeys do, they sum it up quickly."
More wins in store: "He's still a lightly raced horse, it's to be discussed I suppose, he basically goes to an eighty rater anyway so he's got his ratings in front of him, I'm in no hurry to get too ambitious with him, these are $135,000 Saturday races and he's got his ratings in front of him so I think we'll just take advantage of that, that'll be the way to go with him."
Michael Kent Jnr:
Holding on late: "I was standing with Rob Archibald who had the second horse there and I was getting very nervous but I was enjoying our transit in run, we were sitting outside the leader and going at a more controlled tempo than last start, he hasn't got a blistering turn of foot but he stays on well, so deep into his prep he did a good job."
Horse's backstory: "He's owned by one of our biggest clients, Boon, he's Singaporean, really good owner of ours, he bought him out of Tattersalls in the UK, he's a late developing horse and he's six months behind. He's by Sea The Moon, I think next prep, a mile and a half will be good for him, but he's very progressive still… he's seven or eight starts he's sort of won four, so done a good job."
Winning Jockey: Damian Lane
Tactics: "I thought I'd probably lead and try to dictate but obviously Sissoko was quick early and to Aramco's credit he's probably learned a bit in that space, that he can take a sit a little bit kinder now, he used to go a little bit hard in your hands, so he's learning which is a good sign, travelled sweetly throughout the run and was able to quicken really well."
Learning to settle: "I think it's a better win again, just because he's done things better, last time he went a little bit keen in front, a couple runs ago he went really keen in behind them so it's a good sign that he's learning to do things the right way around and he's a very progressive horse."
