FLEMINGTON

Group 1 - Yulong Newmarket Handicap

(Handicap - 1200m)

Race Result:

1st: Cylinder (Jamie Kah/James Cummings) - $11
2nd: Imperatriz (Opie Bosson/Mark Walker) - $2.80F
3rd: The Astrologist (Declan Bates/Leon & Troy Corstens) - $101

Winning Time: 1:08.83  Last 600m: N/A

Margins: 1¼L x Long Neck

Beaten jockey comments:

Opie Bosson (Imperatriz): "She was game in defeat. She came off the bridle a fair way out but she stuck out a good gallop."

Craig Williams (Bella Nipotina): "I don't think she's dissimilar to last preparation. She's improved again today. She's run really well, not beaten too far from the placegetters, forgetting the winner, but I think she's still got more to come which is very exciting for this preparation."

Blake Shinn (Buenos Noches): "Disappointing. He followed Imperatriz, was under pressure at the 500 (metres) and should have went better."

Damian Lane (Ruthless Dame): "She's run her usual honest race. She was there for a long way but she just didn't have the turn of foot late."

Michael Dee (Magic Time): "She ran well. She ran a touch fresh in the first-half and was found wanting late. She's going to improve a lot out of this."

Declan Bates (The Astrologist): "He's run a super race. He began nicely which was good and we landed in a nice spot. It was just a matter of bowling along in a rhythm. He was getting tired late but he toughed it out well to the line. It was a super run."

Harry Coffey (Benedetta): "She was super. I was really proud of her effort. She was strong right through the line. She was beaten once they quickened up, but she ended the race off well and nearly snuck third, but unfortunately not today."

Linda Meech (It'sourtime): "Just forget it happened. I don't know what happened to him. He lost his legs when he jumped. He was standing there lovely and relaxed and I thought he was going to let rip, but these things happen."

Dean Yendall (Master Fay): "He began clean and I tried to find a bum early just to switch him off. He did, but he just didn't come back underneath me when I asked him for an effort. He blew both his back soes, so he's pulled-up lame."

Craig Newitt (Sghirripa): "He ran well but well below his best. I'd say he's come to the end of it and he can get ready for his hometown carnival."

Celine Gaudray (Skew Wiff): "She wanted to overdo it a bit with the blinkers first time and she didn't finish the race off."

RANDWICK

Group 1 - The Agency Randwick Guineas

(3yo SW - 1600m)

Race Result:

1st: Celestial Legend (L Bridge/K McEvoy) - $3.60
2nd: Militarize (C Waller/J McDonald) - $2.20F
3rd: Cafe Millenium (J O'Shea/T Marquand) - $71

Winning Time: 1:33.94 Last 600m: 35.27

Margins: Head  x Head

Beaten jockey comments:

James McDonald (Militarize): "He ran phenomenally well. He gave his all. Just a messy run race, probably stop start, didn't really suit him. He is a sharp colt, very talented. He's knocking on the door. Just unfortunate we didn't get the bob today."

Nash Rawiller (Tom Kitten): "He was awesome today. He didn't really get many breaks go his way from between the 300m and the 200m. But he hit the line terrifically."

Jason Collett (Encap): "Pretty stiff. Followed the winner and placegetter but had no room down the straight."

Tim Clark (Ganbare): "Good honest performance from him. He will appreciate when he gets out to 2000m and then the 2400m."

Adam Hyeronimus (Les Vampires): "He has gone great. We were at our top from the start and struggled to take up the lead. Considering what happened mid-race and the way he finished off, a good run."

Tommy Berry (Fukubana): "Too keen."

Tyler Schiller (Ducasse): "Wasn't really the plan with him. He got over-racing with the blinkers on instead of the visors. He ended up slotting into a good spot. He was very game in the straight when they challenged him.I just felt like if they didn't want to ride him quiet he'd happily roll forward and control a race."

Sam Clipperton (Ceolwulf): "I thought he ran terrific. Right on track for a horse aiming up at 2000m plus."

Tom Marquand (Cafe Millenium): "He has run huge. Obviously I had a spin around on him last year. He has done well physically. For a moment I thought he was going to go over the top."

Chad Schofield (Cosmic Lad): "I thought it was a very good run. He got thrown in the deep end today but I thought he handled himself well. Will appreciate further."

Group 1 - James Squire Canterbury Stakes

(3yo+ WFA - 1300m)

Race Result:

1st: Lady Laguna (A Neasham/T Schiller) - $11
2nd: Think About It (J Pride/S Clipperton) - $2.35F
3rd: Espiona (C Waller/J McDonald) - $2.45

Winning Time: 1:15.19 Last 600m: 33.70

Margins: 1¼L x Nose

Beaten jockey comments:

Sam Clipperton (Think About It): "He has gone fantastic. After a good spell he has strengthened up. Naturally from the widest barrier I flowed up to look for a spot. But there was no spot so I just had to come back to get cover. Once I did that the pace dropped right out. He was resenting having to go so slow. I just let him stride. I tried to keep him in a rhythm rather than to continue to fight him the whole way. He's run super."

Tom Marquand (Pericles): "Had a nice sit off them. Obviously when the Everest winner came around and shut the race down on me, it gave us a horrible run around in the end. It just kept us locked."

Adam Hyeronimus (Coal Crusher): "He has gone brilliant. I would have preferred to be in a position to dictate but weren't able to get that today. He has gone fantastic."

Jordan Childs (Bandersnatch): "He ran as well as he could. He'll be better over a bit further."

Josh Parr (Malkovich): "His performance was really good. I dare say his sectionals from the 600m to the 200m would be electrifying. Just seeing out that trip was the issue."

James McDonald (Espiona): "I thought she ran really really well. It was devoid of pace and I couldn't get over the top of them when they sprinted home in that. She has done extremely well to finish where she did."

Group 2 - Hyland Race Colours Challenge Stakes

(3yo+ WFA - 1000m)

Race Result:

1st: Passive Aggressive (G Begg/J Childs) - $7.50
2nd: Zapateo (J Cummings/K McEvoy) - $20
3rd: Aft Cabin (J Cummings/J McDonald) - $6

Winning Time: 56.61 Last 600m: 32.78

Margins: ¾L x Short Head

Beaten jockey comments:

Nash Rawiller (Private Eye): "He will come through that well. His wheels just seemed to spin the whole way. Never really felt like he got it all the way up to where he normally is at the end of an Everest or one of those big races until the last 50/100m. He was fine."

Jason Collett (Mazu): "Great return. Had to work outside lead. Stuck on well in the straight. Very good."

Tommy Berry (Remarque): "He has never been a comfortable horse on the rail and we saw that first up last prep. He was there to pounce but he is just too big to be inside of horses."

James McDonald (Aft Cabin): "He is flying the horse. He is on track."

Kerrin McEvoy (Zapateo): "Great run by her. She got in front and there wasn't a lot of pressure. She kicked off the corner and gave a good account of herself."

Tyler Schiller (How's The Serenity): "I thought she was very brave. Probably just needs a step up in trip."

Group 2 - UNSW Todman Stakes

(2yo C&G SW - 1200m)

Race Result:

1st: Switzerland (C Waller/J McDonald) - $3.60
2nd: Straight Charge (G Waterhouse & A Bott/T Clark) - $2.80F
3rd: Shangri La Express (G Waterhouse & A Bott/R Bayliss) - $14

Winning Time: 1:09.39 Last 600m: 34.95

Margins: 1L x 1¼L

Beaten jockey comments:

Regan Bayliss (Shangri La Express): "Really pleased with the improvement he made going into the race today. The Grand Final is in two weeks' time and he is on track."

Tim Clark (Straight Charge): "Really nice run. He knuckled a little bit on jumping but recovered quickly. He was having a good time of it until a bit of pressure mid-stages from horses that finished out the back. So I thought his effort to hang on and just go down was pretty solid.".

Tommy Berry (Bodyguard): "He's gone really well. He blew out late with the bit of time in between runs and will clean up nice for the Slipper."

Nash Rawiller (Espionage): "Pretty much nothing went right for us. At the end of the day we were still only beaten 2½/3 lengths. Very happy with the horse. He'll hopefully draw a bit better in the Slipper and we'll still be competitive."

Ryan Maloney (All Inclusive): "Just nothing went right from the get go."

Jason Collett (Getafix): "Actually quickened really well into the straight there. The further we went the shorter the action got. Obviously something not 100% with him."

Jordan Childs (Verlander): "He's just still a bit green and raw. He'll improve from the experience."

Group 2 - Yarraman Park Reisling Stakes

(2yo F SW - 1200m)

1st: Erno's Cube (C Maher/J Collett) - $3.70
2nd: Silmarillion (J Cummings/J McDonald) - $4.60
3rd: Too Darn Lizzie (G Waterhouse & A Bott/T Clark) - $3.10F

Winning Time: 1:10.66 Last 600m: 34.91

Margins: Head x Long Head

Beaten jockey comments:

Tim Clark (Too Darn Lizzie): "Really brave performance. She went down fighting. It was a good effort."

Tom Sherry (Nymphadora): "We had a nice run in transit. Just failed to finish off."

Dylan Gibbons (Miss Busslinger): "Just had to go a bit further back than I would have liked. Shame she didn't settle closer and she would have finished a bit higher up."

Chad Schofield (Extreme Diva): "We had the box seat following the favourite. Obviously we envisaged that horse quickening but it didn't. As a result we got held up."

Sam Clipperton (Reasonable Point): "Really nice filly. I just don't think she has that physical strength at the moment to make a Sydney 2yo but follow her in 3 to 6 months time."

James McDonald (Silmarillion): "She was good. Just inexperienced the last little bit. Just found her out against tough seasoned horses."

Tommy Berry (Mic Drop): "Plenty of ability. Just doing a lot wrong. It's only her first start and in that sort of grade. When she learns to do things right and relax she has a bit of upside there."
