3 minute read

All eyes will be on Caulfield this Wednesday as the MRC are set to host their first ever race meeting on the newly completed Heath track.

Originally set to be run at Sandown, the eight race program was transferred to the inner track earlier this month after it was given the all clear by racing officials and participants.

The track is rated a good 4 and not surprising, the rail will be in the true position.

Our Ladbrokes preview can be found below.

RACE 1 - 3:05PM: SPORTSBET MAKE IT LOOK EASY PLATE MAIDEN SW (1200 METRES)

There a lot to like about the way Superconstellation hit the line on debut.

Over 1000m at Pakenham, he was slightly slow away off the inside gate and just wanted to get his head up as he settled in behind them.

Held up in the early part of the straight, he had to switch across heels to find clear running but really attacked the line strongly over the final stages.

The son of Squamosa will have taken plenty of benefit from the experience and looks well suited up to 1200m.

Ben Allen stay in the saddle for Enver Jusofovic and from barrier five, he's drawn to get the right run.

RACE 2 - 3:40PM: STOW STORAGE SOLUTIONS HANDICAP 2YO FILLIES (1000 METRES)

Ameena could not have been more impressive when saluting on debut at Bendigo.

The Tassort filly was always wide and exposed over the 1000m dash but when asked to let down at the top of the straight, she charged home to put up a four length margin on the line.

The time was slick and eased up over the final part, she looks very smart.

Mark Zahra goes onboard for Anthony and Sam Freedman and she's set to receive every chance from gate five.

RACE 3 - 4:15PM: SPORTSBET BET WITH MATES HANDICAP BM70 (1800 METRES)

Sea What I See has only had the four career starts but looks highly promising.

The Danny O'Brien trained mare didn't have the best of luck in her first two outings but has made it back to back wins this time in and her most recent victory was full of merit.

Held up approaching the turn, a gap appeared 100m from home and she burst through to score by a long neck.

Whilst it wasn't a big margin, the way she was able to accelerate was certainly the sign of a very smart horse.

A daughter of Sea The Stars, she'll relish the rise to 1800m and Blake Shinn sticks with her.

RACE 4 - 4:50PM: TOBIN BROTHERS CELEBRATING LIVES HANDICAP BM64 (1800 METRES)

Running On Time hasn't had a lot go right for her this time in but she comes off a very pleasing last start performance, and I think will be well suited here at 1800m.

Out to 2040m last start she was held up momentarily at the top of the straight but charged through and just looked to peak on her run late.

The four year old has only had the one prior start over 1800m where she finished second in the Port Adelaide Guineas behind subsequent Group One Australasian Oaks winner Affaire A Suivre.

She's fit and drawn to receive every chance under John Allen, who retains the ride for Ciaron Maher.

1 unit – RUNNING ON TIME

BET NOW: Caulfield Race 4

RACE 5 - 5:25PM: SPORTSBET JOCKEY WATCH HANDICAP BM64 (1200 METRES)

Graysong comes off a disappointing effort in Adelaide but I'm hopeful he can bounce back here.

The son of I Am Invincible resumed with a solid effort over 1200m at Moonee Valley, settling back last off a wide gate he had to loop to field but finished off nicely into fourth.

Following that run he headed to Morphettville, where he again settled back last but never got into the race.

He showed plenty of promise early and was dominant in two wins on the Pakenham synthetic last campaign.

Fitter for the two runs, he drops back in grade and if he can produce his best, he'll be right in this.

1 unit – GRAYSON

BET NOW: Caulfield Race 5

RACE 6 - 6:00PM: ive HANDICAP BM64 3YO FILLIES (1000 METRES)

Fragile Love returns to the races.

The No Nay Never filly kicked off her career in stye with a win at Werribee before finishing the runner up at her second outing and that event has since turned out to be a very strong form race.

Subsequently sent to the paddock, she only had the three runs last campaign, winning first up before a couple of solid performances against quality opposition.

She comes here off two very nice jump outs and over the 1000m short course, I don't think the big weight will hinder her.

Damian Lane will again partner her as she looks to keep her unbeaten first up record.

BET NOW: Caulfield race 6

RACE 7 - 6:30PM: THE IMPORTER HANDICAP BM78 (1000 METRES)

Flying On A Limb resumes.

The daughter of Flying Artie comes off a terrific campaign where she put together three in a row in good style.

Given a seven week let up she then produced a solid effort over 1200m in BM84 grade and was found to have pulled up with a slow recovery rate and was sent for a good break.

She comes here ready to go off three jump outs and is unbeaten in three starts over the 1000m.

Ben Melham knows her well and will again do the steering for Clinton McDonald.

1 unit – FLYING ON A LIMB

BET NOW: Caulfield Race 7

RACE 8 - 7:00PM: SAME RACE MULTI HANDICAP BM70 (1500 METRES)

He'll Rip strips fitter for the two recent runs.

When resuming off a good break in mid January he just looked in need of the run.

Second up, off a seven week freshen up and couple of jump outs, he bounced back with a terrific effort to finish second, despite a wide run.

The slight rise in trip will suit and Leon and Troy Corstens look to have him perfectly placed in this class of race.

Blaike McDougall retains the ride and he's set to enjoy a soft run from the low draw.

1 unit – HE'LL RIP

BET NOW: Caulfield Race 8
