It’s half the battle in a race if your horse is a dream to ride and that’s how Michael Dee describes Revolutionary Miss as he chases successive wins in the Group 1 $1 million Coolmore Classic (1500m) at Rosehill on Saturday.

Dee partnered Espiona to victory in the race last year and has built a strong record on the Peter and Paul Snowden mare with four wins and a second from five rides.

The second half of the job for a jockey is the race itself and while Dee doesn't love drawing a bit wide he says he's on the right sort of horse to handle it.

"She has always been a dream to ride and it's just the draw that's the only concern,'' Dee said.

"She's been very honest and always around the mark in those Group 3, Group 2, sort of races so she deserves her chance in a Group 1.

"Her last two she's put away pretty comfortably.

"It's obviously a big step up and we've drawn awkwardly so it's going to be much harder, I'm not denying that, but she hasn't put a foot wrong."

The four-year-old was narrowly beaten in a Blue Diamond as a two-year-old and notched a second Group 1 placing in the Thousand Guineas in 2022 but as Dee said she's hitting this Group 1 in top form.

She has four wins from her last five starts, the last three at Group 3 level, split by a third behind Semana in the Magic Millions Cup in January.

Dee said her versatility has been evident in her Flemington win where she settled behind the lead on the fence and in her Mannerism Stakes win at Caulfield where she sat outside the speed after jumping from a wide alley.

"She's got good natural gate speed and she's either drawn low or wide, when she's drawn low she's put herself right there just behind the speed,'' he said.

"Then when she's drawn wide instead of going all the way back she can go forward and get there comfortably.

"I'd say we'll jump clean and try to cruise across without having to overdo anything."

Co-trainer Paul Snowden isn't overly concerned about the wide gate for Revolutionary Miss, $14 with TAB on Thursday, especially as Dee has made all the right moves on her so far.

She carried 59kg to her latest win and drops to 55.5kg for the Coolmore.

"She makes her own luck, she usually finds the right spot,'' Snowden said.

"Michael Dee has a good association with her and jumped at the chance to come up and ride her.

"She deserves a crack at it no matter what she drew. She's narrowly gone down in Group 1s twice so it would be great for the ownership group to tick this off."
