Full book of rides for apprentice Hillier at Armidale today

3 minute read

Apprentice Chelsea Hillier is in demand at Armidale on Monday with a full book of seven rides awaiting the 1.5kg claimer.

Chelsea Hillier will start the day with the ride on the Sue Grills prepared Starworthy ($51 on TAB) in the Debooli Wines Country Boosted Maiden Plate (1300m).

She then links with trainer Jane Clement on pre-post favourite Another Gift ($2.10) in the Roberts & Morrow Chartered Accountants Maiden Handicap (1400m).

Another Gift is yet to win from 17 starts but has been placed in two of his last three starts and gets his chance to break through.

Hillier and Clement will also combine later in the day when Red Beryl  ($7) contests the Tooheys Benchmark 74 Handicap (1900m).

Red Beryl is a handy performer on his day and heads into the Armidale event on the back of a last start fifth in the Quirindi Cup behind Danza In The Dark.

Hillier's other rides include the Todd Payne-trained pair of Isadami ($6) in the Maria River Cattle Co Maiden Plate (1100m) and Kalahari Heart ($7) in the Laing & Simmons Real Estate Benchmark 58 Handicap (1300m).

She will also be on leading contender Exsensible ($2.70 fav) for Melissa Dennett in the Tony Williams Machinery Country Boosted Class 1 Handicap (1100m), while the Craig Clegg-trained The Affirmative ($11) is her remaining mount in the Armidale Services Club Benchmark 58 Handicap (1100m).

While Hillier combines with Clement in a couple of races, the Armidale-based trainer also has some key chances in other events.

She will have Glorien ($41) lining up in the Maria River Cattle Co Maiden Plate (1100m) with Courtney Bellamy taking the ride.

Bellamy will also partner the Clement-trained Adviser ($21) in the Armidale Services Club Benchmark 58 Handicap (1100m).

Clement will have three runners in Red Beryl's event with Seahaven (Braith Nock-$5) and Chocolatier (Bellamy-$21) joining their stablemate.

Ben Looker is another jockey with a good book of rides at Armidale, headed by the Stirling Osland-trained pair of Kingstar Bullet ($5.50) and Quick As A Flash ($6) which contest races six and seven respectively.

Looker will ride Awesome Miss ($7) for John Shelton in the fifth event, while he is on Smokehouse Brown ($6) and Voigner ($4.20) in the races one and three.
