Radley to represent Tassie…

3 minute read

Jackson Radley, who has been riding for less than a year will take the reins for Tasmania in round two of the National Apprentice Races Series in Hobart on Sunday.

After the first round in South Australia on Wednesday, Tasmania sits second six points behind SA who got off to a flier winning both heats at Murray Bridge.

Taylor Johnstone represented Tasmania on Wednesday and while both get mounts were double figure odds she gave them every chance and earned valuable points.

Jackson Radley  only began his riding career in August last year, he got off to the best possible start when he kicked home Rigoletto for his boss John Blacker at his first race ride.

Since then Radley has ridden just eight winners but he showed he was back to his best with an impressive ride to win on Intisar in Launceston nine days ago.

"I didn't really expect to get picked but it is really privilege to represent Tassie, the young rider said.

Before Sundays meeting, Radley has six rides in Launceston on Friday night.

His two national series rides on Sunday are Jehbenti and Noztrabeel.

Jehbenti is a newcomer to the Gary White stable and finished a close sixth in a much tougher race in Launceston at his Tasmanian debut coming from second last around the home turn. The 3yo should find Sundays assignment much easier.

"I think I've got a  couple of nice chances especially the one of Gary White's it should go really well."

Noztrabeel from the Brendan Mcshane stable has been unplaced at two runs from a spell but steps up to 1600m the distance of both his wins.

My best is Opalson in race five, Peter Staples will be trackside for TasracingTv with the first of 8 races at 12.50.
