Victorian filly Quickster put herself into Australasian Oaks contention with a dominant win in the $120,000 Listed Clare Lindop Stakes at Morphettville on Saturday.

The Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman trained three-year-old was given a perfect ride by former local Will Price to safely hold fellow Victorian The Autumn Belle and Madison Kate in the 1600m feature.

Price said the lightly raced filly, who was coming off a Sandown maiden win, ticked a lot of boxes going forward.

"She's pretty straight forward,'' Price said.

"She jumps, puts herself in a spot, travels and as soon as you ask her to quicken, she's there for you.

"We hit the front a little bit too soon, she's still got improvement to come,'' he said.

The Phillip Stokes-trained Climbing Star landed some solid wagers when she proved too good for rivals with an impressive 2.7 length win in the $120,000 Listed Matrice Stakes with Lachlan Neindorf in the saddle.

It was a double for the combination after All Woke scored earlier in the day carrying the colours made famous by Bart Cummings.

"We've always had a big opinion of her,'' Stokes said of Climbing Star.

"We set her for this race, she goes to the Irwin, three weeks into the Sangster.

"The owners have been very patient with her, it's a big result,'' he said.

Dylan Caboche also had a memorable day landing his first metropolitan win as a trainer when Delightful Shecky won the last race of the day with Todd Pannell in the saddle.

At Mount Gambier on Friday Thrill Kill's impressive season on the Country Cup circuit was rewarded with a win in the Mount Gambier Cup.

Coming off seconds in both the Kangaroo Island and Port Lincoln Cups at his previous two outings, Thrill Kill was able to where down Khoekhoe to score with Maggie Collett in the saddle.

"It's one of my biggest wins,'' Collett said.

"The horse was just placed really well, he was working into it strong and I had a really good feeling at the 600.

"He's quite one paced and takes some riding, he just keeps whacking away,'' she said.

It was a huge day for the ladies who won all eight races, Collett sharing riding honours with Victorian apprentice Jordyn Weatherly with three wins while Stacey Metcalfe had a riding double.

The female dominance continued at Streaky Bay on Saturday when the ladies claimed all six races.

Ivy Lam had a riding treble, Jade Doyle had a double while Polly Brewster landed the first winner of her riding career in the Streaky Bay Cup aboard Shakespeare for Richard and Chantelle Jolly.
