PRIDE OF JENNI STUNS RANDWICK

In 1973, the mighty Secratariat powered home in the Belmont to complete the triple crown with a staggering 31 length victory, in what was the defining moment of his astonishing career.

Pride of Jenni produced the 2024 version of that race at Randwick with a simply breathtaking victory in the Queen Elizabeth. The noted front runner charged to the lead and never stopped, opening up an enormous lead before routing her rivals to the tune of an official seven length margin.

Once known as a giant slayer, she is now beyond that moniker, and is simply a giant of the turf in her own right. It will be hard to witness a more impressive victory by any horse this year.

Her win was one of four Group 1s contested on the day, with Autumn Angel outstanding in claiming the Australian Oaks for the Moody/Coleman team.

Circle of Fire won an evenly contested Sydney Cup in what was another fairytale story for connections, before Zougotcha clinched a photo in the Queen of the Turf.

Bendigo's Golden Bracelet day started with a runner saluting at $700 in the run before Lady Jones claimed the feature.

What a day, and what a win by Pride of Jenni. If you haven't seen the replay, make sure you do!

BEST BACKED WINNERS

Easily the best backed runner of the entire day was Bold Bastille in Race 2 at Bendigo.

The race itself took the second highest volume of any race in the country, only marginally behind the Queen Elizabeth in Sydney.

Of the $683,000 matched on this race, more than $520,000 of that was matched on Bold Bastille (pictured) who jumped extremely short at $1.30. She did the right thing by punters and got the job done.

Broadsiding was a popular winner at Randwick in the first, and Zougotcha attracted a lot of late interest before winning the Queen of the Turf.

FIRMERS AND DRIFTERS

Doomben started slowly with Ichiban firming from $2.78 into $2.16 ahead of Race 2 before running second.

Race 4 saw Chinny Boom keep drifting from $2.38 out to $3.75 before running third in a better read from punters.

Xtravagant Star (pictured) kept that going in Race 6 with a firm from $2.20 into $1.80 before winning.

Tenacious Reward drifted sharply at Ascot, from $4 out to $6.80 before running unplaced.

Randwick saw Via Sistina firm ahead of the Queen Elizabeth, from $2.36 into $1.90 before the Pride of Jenni show commenced.

BAD BEATS AND IN-PLAY BOLTERS

Orchestral was the best backed runner of the day not to win, with 70% of volume ahead of the Australian Oaks.

The $1.74 BSP was evidence of that, but Autumn Angel had written a different script for that race.

Bendigo is where are going though, and the very first race on the card.

Mi Rock Aly jumped at $24.48 but looked home halfway down the straight, and as such traded at $1.02!

But they soon found out how long that Bendigo straight is, and Samuel Langhorne (pictured) stole show from an in-play max of $700!

El Amigos pinched a race from $300 in play at Ararat with Jimmy Manolo the $1.01 victim!

The NRL gets a mention here as well, with the New Zealand Warriors pulling off a remarkable golden point escape after trailing by eight with 90 seconds to play. They traded at $55 in the run.

Not to be denied, we saw the Utah Jazz win from $21 in play in their NBA clash with the LA Clippers.

PRICE ADVANTAGE

Broadsiding got things going at Randwick with a 16.6% edge in the first despite being well supported.

Panic's $12 win in Race 2 was 27% better on the Exchange, with Eneeza's Race 4 triumph 22.2% better.

The reliable Joliestar was 20% better in the Arrowfield, before Autumn Angel produced a whopping 33.8% edge in the Oaks.

Circle of Fire kept it going with 23% in the Sydney Cup, before the superstar Pride of Jenni (pictured) didn't just stun the crowd, she did with a 45.5% kicker!

Zougotcha nailed the Queen of the Turf at 34% to top things off.

Bendigo was a similar story, with Samuel Langhorne's miracle coming at 45% better odds in the first.

Bold Bastille was 18% better in the second before Coco Sun was 24.5% better in Race 4.

It went ballistic from there though…Atlantic Spirit was the best result anywhere in the country today with an $87 BSP victory in Race 5.

This was 44% better than the best tote of $60.70, which amounts to $263 more in the pocket for a $10 outlay on the Exchange.

Senegalia did similar with a 47% edge in the next at $21.
