Macdonald, 32, has been booked to ride Roots in the $1m Sportsbet Sansgter Stakes (1200m) for Chris Waller, while he'll also team with the champion horseman in the $1m Group 1 Australasian Oaks (2000m).

It will be the first time Macdonald, who boasts 2127 career wins, 94 at Group 1 level with more than 300 other stakes class victories has ridden in Adelaide.

"It's J Mac's first trip down there,'' Macdonald's manager Mark Guest said.

"He's booked for the two Group 1 races at this stage, Roots in the Sangster and it will be another horse for Chris Waller in the Oaks.

"He'll take a couple other rides on the big day,'' he said.

Guest said it loomed as South Australian racing fans only chance to witness Macdonald in the flesh across the three days of Group 1 racing.

"We're just playing it by ear but it looks like he could be in Queensland on Goodwood Day and there is a big Hawkesbury meeting on May 4,'' Guest said.

"Nothing is confirmed, unless something jumps out, but I haven't booked anything beyond the 27th,'' he said.

Sangster and Oaks Day is shaping as one of the best days of SA racing for some time with Te Akau expected to have a strong hand with Skew Wiff returning for the Sangster along with stablemates Certainly and Qali Al Farrasha and Quintessa for the Oaks, while Campionessa will target the Queen Of The South.

Ranked as the world's number one jockey by Thoroughbred Racing Commentary, can "JMac" add 2 more Group 1 success to his impressive tally?
