The stand-alone meeting set down for Gosford on Saturday has been moved to Newcastle due to concerns over the state of the Central Coast track.

Gosford was already rated a heavy 10 and with a forecast for further rain in the coming days, Racing NSW officials on Thursday made the decision to transfer the program.

"Due to the current Heavy 10 rating of Gosford Racecourse and with the weather forecast of further rainfall, including on raceday, it has been decided to transfer the Gosford meeting to Newcastle where the track is currently rated a Soft 7," Racing NSW said in a statement.

The meeting is Gosford's most significant race day of the year and features two stakes races and the $500,000 The Coast (1600m).

The change of plans will result in the variation of distances for three of the 10 events, including the Listed Gold Cup which will extend from 2100m to 2200m, while the 1200m races will have their field capacity reduced from 16 to 14, impacting the Listed Takeover Target Stakes.

Gosford is the second meeting this week transferred to Newcastle with Thursday's Wyong program also shifted to the provincial venue.
