Today’s Horse Racing Tips - 23rd December 2023

3 minute read

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for December 23.

Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Randwick, Moonee Valley, Eagle Farm and Ascot.

RANDWICK: RACE 9 @ 5:20 PM

ARISTONOUS (4) progressive stayer who resumed with a slashing third over 1600m here on December 9. Goes just as well second-up and will relish the extra trip and further. Looks set for a good prep. ROGUE BEAR (3) has a fitness edge over these and looks well placed with the 3kg claim today. Anchored with the 60.5kg when a tenacious third over 2000m at this track on December 16. Backs up quickly and stable are training winners all over the state at present. TOO MUCH CAVIAR (6) tough on-pace Waterhouse/Bott stayer resuming. Since fitted with two searching trials and likes the sting out of the ground. STATE OF AMERICA (8) holding his form well and was a touch unlucky when third over 1800m at Rosehill on December 2. Randwick track suits and no surprise to see him sit a little closer to the speed from the good gate.
SELECTIONS: Aristonous to win.

MOONEE VALLEY: RACE 6 @ 3:05 PM

See no reason to jump off SOUTH OF HOUSTON (6) who went straight to the front and gave nothing else a look second up at Sandown-Lakeside. The form out of that race has worked out nicely and she did win in this grade last time in. Drawn to effect, she should go close. STARLITE VALLEY (5) comes across from SA and in fine form. Beaten last time but she did run third at listed level and won her two starts prior. Hard to ignore. PRAIRIE FLOWER (7) is racing well with three consecutive placings this time in. JENNY JEROME (3) resumes and will be flashing home.
SELECTIONS: South Of Houston to win.

EAGLE FARM: RACE 3 @ 1:23 PM

WEIGALL TIGER (1) has been in red-hot form this campaign stringing four wins together on the bounce with Graham being in the irons for all four victories. Is two from two here and draws perfectly from the inside marble. Can keep the winning streak going. TRIFLING (5) has placed at her past couple and looks to be nearing another win. Should be involved in the outcome. VICTORY WIN (3) is improving with racing this time in and the step-up to the mile suits. In the mix. EXOTIQUE MISS (6) is yet to put in a poor performance and can earn another cheque. COOL MUSIC (7) next in line.
SELECTIONS: Weigall Tiger to keep the ball going.

ASCOT: RACE 9 @ 5:35 PM

LENIENCY (5) has been given a quiet trial since his 0.3L first-up defeat. He's undefeated second-up and still looks to have plenty of improvement to come. Expecting him to have come on from the fresh effort and be storming right over the top of them late. SUPERSESSION (8) ran on well in tougher company first-up and only rises 1.5kg for the drop in grade. He may be a long way back from the draw, but if he can replicate the figures from his fresh effort he'll be steaming home at the finish. AIN'T NO OTHER MAN (4) steps back out to 1200m which is some concern, but he will make his own luck up front. He'll benefit from his last-start effort and the 1.5kg claim comes in handy. Not to be discounted. CABLE BOY (11) rattled home from a long way back last start and must be included from a better gate this time. CAPRICORN MAN (6) was nearly too bad to be true last start and a much better effort is expected this time.
SELECTIONS: Backing Leniency to get the job done.
