Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for January 28.
Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Wyong, Grafton, Geelong, Great Western, Cairns, Strathalbyn and Mt Barker.
WYONG: RACE 7 @ 5:21 PM
MIRRA IMPACT (11) won nicely on debut then resumed and had a wide run when a closing fourth here a few weeks ago. Kinder draw here and chance to be in the finish. MERRY MAC BOY (4) did a bit of work and was left vulnerable at Gosford last time so forgive that. Capable of bouncing back with the claim. JACENZA (2) can run well after a last start win and big watch on BROADWAY BOUNCER (10). NEVER SORRY (7) has claims too. SELECTIONS: Mirra Impact to win. Save on Merry Mac Boy.

KOBY GIRL (9) is that likely leader and she's naturally trialled nicely being from the Waterhouse/Bott yard. Should take beating. WEZZA (12) ran a handy race behind a smart one two starts back then worked too hard at Muswellbrook. Could bounce back and be in the finish. KERVETTE (7) and KALIMBA (6) have shown promise and can be kept safe. KHAZNAH (8) is on debut for thed Maher stable and has drawn well. Any support should be respected.
SELECTIONS: Koby Girl to win.
GRAFTON: RACE 7 @ 5:35 PM
BIG HITTER (9) had a six-week let-up and returned to form last start when beaten narrowly over 1800m at the Sunshine Coast. Won a similar race here back in October and with that last run under her belt she can get the job done again. SACRED GIRL (5) has been poor at her last couple of outings, both at 1600m. Filled a minor placing twice at Scone late last year over 2200m so she is capable of sharp improvement in this more suitable affair. CHOCOLATIER (1) knocked up over today's journey at Scone seven days ago. Worth another chance on the quick back-up. HOMBRE GRANDE (2) is racing well but his chances skyrocket if there is any rain about. SELECTIONS: Like Big Hitter in the last.
GEELONG: RACE 5 @ 3:45 PM
KENTUCKY NICK (1) looks well placed here having run in the placing at his past two efforts, beaten 1.2 lengths at Cranbourne over 2080m last time out. Should relish this trip now fourth-up and rates highly. HIGHLAND HILL (4) has been going okay in three runs this campaign and should be at peak fitness now. Was in the market last start at Cranbourne and may pay to follow up over this trip. MILETUS (3) wasn't bad in a better race at Caulfield two back and again tried hard at Seymour last time out. Won't need to improve much to be in the finish here. JENNY THE BEAVER (5) is lightly raced and worth respecting. She won two back at Werribee and was good again last time. Should be competitive again.

CAIRNS: RACE 7 @ 5:15 PM
KIHI (5) back in trip for this and looks well placed to bounce back to winning form. Struggled to run the 1200m out when a plugging ninth over 1200m at Townsville eight days ago. Go on sound third four runs back over this track and trip when assessing her chances. DYSTOPIAN (3) returns from a break of three-and-a-half months and expected to sprint well fresh. Won two back before coming to the end of his prep when eighth over 1200m at Atherton on October 14. Has the right figures to take this out. FLYING ARTIST (1) resumed in good order with a gritty fourth over 950m at this track on January 8. Placed second-up and both wins have come at this trip. RUBICKS CHOICE (2) broke his maiden status at start six when a tough on-pace victory over 1180m at Home Hill on January 17. Strengthened-up over the break and stays in the mix.

MT BARKER: RACE 7 @ 5:00 PM
RESONATOR (1) was right up to his best first-up at Albany, leading throughout but just tiring late to be beaten 0.3L. Fitter for that effort and has never missed the placings second-up with two wins. Chris Parnham rides from an inside alley and he looks the one to beat. SUPERSESSION (4) got over the top to win at Albany last time out and may not be as far back from a better draw this time. CJP has a successful record when riding and he only rises 1.5kg. Expecting him to go close once again. DUCHESS OF GOSSIP (3) has been superb in town, just missing behind a progressive type most recently at Pinjarra. The slight rise in trip shouldn't trouble her and she's sure to be storming home late. CLASSIC MAGNUS (9) is better than he showed last time out and gets another chance this time. Good effort here two back and is not to be discounted. BEAU ZOOM (5) is tracking along nicely and remains down in the weights. Must be included.
SELECTIONS: Siding with Resonator to win the feature.
