Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Nowra, Hobart, Bendigo, Ararat, Naracoorte, Sunshine Coast and Pinjarra.

NOWRA: RACE 7 @ 5:10 PM

OCCHIATA (7) rewarded with her consistency second-up with a solid victory over 1300m at Canberra on January 27. Fitter now and Billy Owen keeps the ride from the good gate. HIGHLAND FALCON (6) strong through the line when sixth over 1210m at Moruya behind EPAULLO CREED on January 19. Comes out of a good form race and extra trip suits. DENI GAL (4) recent efforts have been better than they appear on paper. Taken back from the wide gate again when a close-up sixth over 1400m at the Sapphire Coast on February 4. Must be respected on the quick back-up. CAPTAIN CORELLI (3) didn't give his rivals a sniff here two back when leading pillar-to-post. Not as effective last start but this isn't as tough. In the mix.
SELECTIONS: Backing Occhiata to win.

HOBART: RACE 5 @ 2:15 PM

VERY SEWREEL (2) is promising and deserved the 70 win at Moonee Valley stepping up to the mile. Doubt she will have any issues over the longer distance. Rates best and draws for a soft on-pace run. It's hard to risk the Waterhouse-Bott yard here or anywhere. WINGS OF SONG (1) brings a string of wins over the mile. Won the Tasmanian Guineas comfortably and then spaced the field in the Thousand Guineas. Should run the middle distance right out. and McNeil stays aboard the Paddy-Payne-trained galloper. GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS (7) didn't finish it off as favourite in a Flemington 70 and best to measure on the near-miss over 1800m at Caulfield prior. A top Victorian hoop is booked and fourth-up she can fight out the finish. OVERFLOW MISS (6) is also over from Victoria and should be around the mark.
SELECTIONS: Very Sewreel appeals most.

BENDIGO: RACE 1 @ 1:15 PM

FOUR ACE (1) just missed the placings in town on debut and will find this assignment much more to his liking. Is sure to have come on with that race experience now under the belt and looks the one they all have to run down. OPPA (4) wasn't disgraced at Pakenham when facing the starter the first time and must be respected from the Stokes barn. Looms as the main danger. VIXENETTE (6) had a sprinkling of money at Geelong on debut and the step-up to the 1300m looks to suit. Top-three contender. PERU (5) is drawn to get a soft run from the inside marble and can improve sharply. Worth another chance. The well-related LARIO (3) (half to G2 winner Lazzargo) is at the races for the first time and any market moves must be noted.
SELECTIONS: Four Ace to shed the maiden tag.

NARACOORTE: RACE 5 @ 3:25 PM

GUSTY WAY (6) has been out of the placings in two runs since a break but has run into two that are better than this grade. Strips fitter again and should be ready to peak. Bold showing anticipated. FINAL ATOM (5) was in a different class last time with a dominant all-the-way win by 3.5 lengths at Penola. Has run well here without winning and another bold showing is expected. CAPTAIN JOOLIAN (1) returned with a bang at Mt Gambier when making light work of his rivals. Drawn to advantage and is a serious contender again. LOAD AND GO (3) is a likely improver third up and is next best.
SELECTIONS: Backing Gusty Way to win.

ARARAT: RACE 6 @ 4:25 PM

CHEVAL SAVANT (3) is in the state's premier barn and looks well-placed to deliver the hat-trick. He keeps improving and will roll over and ride the speed. Bates goes on and can boot him home. MR FRENCH (1) will go better than the numerical form suggests. He's been racing over staying trips in better city class and coming back to the middle distance won't bother. He races forward and the winkers are applied the first time. No surprise if he gives a sight. THINK 'N' FLY (5) found more like his best at Sale and has some weight relief today. Fitter and maps for the run of the race. Has to be considered. DAVELLIOM (8) came from the back and won a Camperdown Maiden comfortably. He's back on track and with weight relief can't be ruled out.
SELECTIONS: Sticking with Cheval Savant.

SUNSHINE COAST: RACE 8 @ 5:08 PM

INVICTUS LAD (3) resumes and is a previous fresh winner who has been readied with a trial win. Rates highly on best figures and is expected to make a bold return. BALTRAY (4) will find this easier than last start at Eagle Farm, that effort coming on the back of a minor placing two back at Ipswich and a fresh win at Doomben. Draws well and finds the right race to bounce back to form. SIX SIDES (9) is two from two at this course and distance so must be respected. MENARI MAGIC (7) chased solidly into the placings last start at Doomben. Cherry-ripe now and is worth including.
SELECTIONS: Invictus Lad to resume a winner.

PINJARRA SCARPSIDE: RACE 3 @ 3:45 PM

SEVEN IRON (1) showed good improvement last start over this distance at Bunbury, beaten just 0.5L when sitting close to the speed. Drawn much better this time and gets the winkers on first time. The one to beat if he can handle the quick back up. ROCKING SOCIETY (3) has been freshened since his 2L defeat at Bunbury 77 days ago and looks good in a recent trial at Lark Hill. The 1400m suits on the fresh side and although he's expected to get back in the running, he's can land the knockout punch if they overdo it up front. PLAYING AROUND (4) stuck on well last start at Belmont and shouldn't be fazed by the slight rise in trip. Big chance with Parnham taking the ride. OMERTA GRACE (2) trialled close to Rocking Society recently and has to be included. TRIO (7) disappointed first-up and now gets the blinkers on with a rise in trip. Keep safe.
SELECTIONS: Seven Iron can get the job done.
