Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for February 14.

Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Randwick Kensington, Doomben, Ballarat, Gawler and Belmont.

RANDWICK KENSINGTON: RACE 6 @ 5:15 PM

BALKANS (7) is a talented three-year-old back from a spell and a gelding operation. Opened last prep with a couple of wins then was beaten just over three lengths in the Roman Consul and Brian Crowley. James Cummings has picked a nice race for this son of Lonhro to launch his Autumn campaign. TELLEZ (8) had a six-week lay-off before chiming in late to score over 1100m at Warwick Farm on Australia Day. Took a while to hit his straps but can go on with it now. SECRET REVOLUTION (4) saluted first-up over this distance at Canberra then struggled behind subsequent winner Shezanalister at the Farm last time. Has failed second-up before and has a strong third-up record so he deserves another chance. MAJOR TIME (6) is racing well in the capital including a gutsy all-the-way win over today's journey last start. Boasts outstanding 1000m stats so don't leave the veteran out. BOLD JULIUS (10) resumes. Blinkers on for the first time and has been gelded so he is a big watch.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Balkans.

DOOMBEN: RACE 6 @ 4:33 PM

PRIME ASSET (1) was handy on straightening when resuming and went on to finish second last start over 1200m at this track, beaten one length. Strikes at 50 per cent when second up so improvement is likely. GOLDEEL (7) has had two runs since a break and got close to the placing each time. Has never missed the frame when third-up from a break so she could show her best today. PATTON (3) was solid enough when resuming last start over 1400m at Eagle Farm. Has a very strong record at this course with two wins from four starts. Improver. MAXCALEMMA (4) ran a better race last start to finish a close third over 1200m at Sunshine Coast and is race-fit now.
SELECTIONS: Prime Asset for a second-up win.

BALLARAT: RACE 2 @ 3:40 PM

GROUSE MOUNTAIN (7) looks hard to beat. She ran very well on debut at Seymour over 1000m, charging late from back in the field to grab a narrow second. Stays at 1000m which is the query but Shinn goes on and if she can land closer she should be winning. PURE RAIN (8) was good first up when hard in the market at Mornington, finding a couple better. Strips fitter and will be hard to hold out. TREZZAMINA (9) was in the market on debut at Moe but struggled. She's been given time and trialled well at Cranbourne recently. Top jockey booked and she can run a much better race. FROSTED ROMANCE (2) can improve while MUNTHAM MISS (4) was sound on debut at Mt Gambier but this is harder.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Grouse Mountain.

GAWLER: RACE 3 @ 2:50 PM

KALBARRI (6) caught the eye on debut when savaging the line to finish third. Wasn't able to pay the punters last start when sent out favourite but again finished off strongly. Drawn a bit better again and has Jake Toeroek sticking. Ready to get off the mark. ARAMOSO (2) looked to be nearing his first win but found a sharp one at the latest. Has been kept fresh for this and is capable of a big bounce back. MOON TREATY (8) continues to finish thereabouts but just struggles to land the winning blow. Expect him to head back from the wide alley and be saved for the final shot at them. THE JOURNO (9) only warmed to his task late on debut at Murray Bridge, closing off solidly into a midfield finish. Improvement to come but is another who will be doing his best work late.
SELECTIONS: Kalbarri the one to beat.

BELMONT PARK: RACE 5 @ 6:10 PM

ART OF CONSENT (5) was heavily beaten and deserved the CL1 win here. Raced in much stronger at Ascot after and wasn't beaten far jumping from a wide gate. She rides the speed and has a handy 1.5kg claim back in grade. A bounce is likely. SIMPLE LOGIC (3) was beaten just 1.4L at Bunbury first-up in a CL5. He'd been away 276 days and is sure to be improved. Draws handy and has more up his sleeve. DIVINE FLIRT (1) resumes and flies this track and trip. Draws to lead or box seat and is well-placed with the 3kg claim. DIVINE PAIR (2) resumes and is up to this if presented ready. Raced well in better races at Ascot last preparation without recording a win. Has placed 4/5 fresh, but where he ends up from the rails gate is a niggle.
SELECTIONS: With Art Of Consent.
