Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for April 1.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Grafton, Sandown, Oakbank, Warwick, Ipswhich and York.
GRAFTON: RACE 6 @ 4:15
PMMATSUYAMA (3) was a bit disappointing last time out over this course but beaten too far to be true so forgive that after not able to be ridden on speed. Won't find a weaker race and has his chance to feature. OUR SPARKY (14) is an interesting runner stepping up in trip after an even debut at Armidale. Drawn inside and she's worth keeping safe. YARRA PRINCESS (11) ran a much improved race last time and could go on with it. THINKIN' BO YOU (4) and ANOTHER SUCCESS (1) are each-way chances.
SELECTIONS: Matsuyama to win. Trifecta 3-1,4,11,14/1,4,11,14.

SANDOWN-LAKESIDE: RACE 1 @ 1:10 PM
A BOOK OF DAYS (1) looks the clear horse to beat. He debuted at Pakenham, raced on speed and stuck on very well behind the talented Illative who was coming back from better races. With that run under the belt and drawn ideally, he can go one better. CREEK (3) ran quite well first up at Bendigo over 1000m. Could improve up in trip. GIN BABA (8) is an Invincible Spirit filly stepping out on debut for the Moody & Coleman partnership. Has impressed in her jump-outs and a forward showing is anticipated. Extra confidence will be added if the market favours. Fellow debutant ICARUS (4) for Greg Eurell is another that warrants consideration.
SELECTIONS: Keen on A Book Of Days.
OAKBANK: RACE 2 @ 2:02 PM
SOLAR MIST (6) hasn't been far away lately including a last-start fourth at Morphettville. The longer trip looks ideal at this stage. Leading player. ON THE SCENT (5) broke through for his maiden win last time. Shaping up nicely and he is right in the mix again. TEMBU BOY (4) was a determined maiden winner last time out, scoring by a head over a similar trip at Murray Bridge. Looks well placed and he cannot be discounted. BUGATTI GOLD (7) chased soundly into the placings when resuming at Broken Hill. Open to further improvement and can be included in calculations.
SELECTIONS: Siding with Solar Mist to win.
WARWICK FARM: RACE 7 @ 5:50 PM
TERRESTAR (8) at her top now and indicated a win was imminent when ran on late from the wide gate to finish a close-up second over 1400m at this track on March 6. Berry sticks and no excuses from the inside draw. The one to beat. DEFINING (3) lightly raced mare who carried the 58kg well when resumed with a tough head victory at today's track and trip on March 6. Drawn out again and has the upside to continue on her winning ways. DESIAH (4) races best with her runs spaced and found the line nicely from midfield when second at Rosehill over this trip on February 28. Claim helps and has each way prospects. LOVE CHILD (12) returned for second prep with a tiring tenth over 1500m at Hawkesbury on March 19. Expecting more here after showing plenty of potential last time in.

IPSWICH: RACE 7 @ 5:02 PM
TALK TIME (3) drew wide and settled near the tail but worked home for fifth when resuming at Gold Coast over 1200m last time. Won his lone second-up attempt so should be improved and can take much closer order from the inside stall. SIAN STAR (4) is racing very well at this course and distance, scoring back-to-back wins before going under by just a head last time. Must rate highly off that form. DWINDLING SPIRIT (17) made an encouraging return when he went under by just a head. His only win came when he was second up at this course and distance. History could repeat. FLYING BIRDS (8) scored two back at Ballina then chased well to get within 0.8 lengths of the winner in second last start at this track and trip. Go well again.
SELECTIONS: Talk Time to score second-up from a much better draw.
YORK: RACE 5 @ 3:33 PM
PRETTY DEVINE (3) is heading the right way and battled on strongly for fourth at Narrogin last time out. She has not won for some time but she also won't meet many easier fields than this either. On top this time. DIGITAL MISS (4) finished a close-up fourth here when resuming and then just plugged away at Pinjarra-Scarpside for seventh 8 days ago. She is in the right race third up and can figure in the finish. Each way. TRISUEM (1) is normally competitive at this level and won't mind the drop back to a sprint trip for her peak run. A 3-kilo claim will help and she is worth including in all combinations. ALTOMEGA (5) led all of the way at Pingrup 9 days ago and could be hard to peg back again if he finds the front early on around this circuit.
SELECTIONS: Pretty Devine to win.
