Today’s Horse Racing Tips - 06th April 2024

3 minute read

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for April 06.

Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Randwick, Caulfield, Eagle Farm, Morphettville Parks and Ascot.

RANDWICK: RACE 6 @ 3:20 PM

STORM BOY (1) tasted defeat for the first time, when slowly away and on inferior ground along the inside when a tenacious third over 1200m in the G1 Golden Slipper at Rosehill on March 23. Extra trip suits and expected to bounce back with J Mac aboard. COLEMAN (2) on the quick back-up when motored late only to be nailed on the line when a close-up second in the G1 Golden Slipper. Racing like he should relish the 1400m and must be respected. MANAAL (10) classy filly who was snagged back from the outside gate before making up many lengths late to secure fifth in the G1 Golden Slipper. Desperate for this trip and further and has the ability to take this out. TRAFFIC WARDEN (3) wasn't far off the placings in the Slipper. Contender.
SELECTIONS: Storm Boy to win.

CAULFIELD: RACE 8 @ 4:15 PM

Quite keen on BUFFALO RIVER (2) who is racing in career-best form. His past two starts at this track have been excellent- the only horses to beat him home are Pride Of Jenni and Mr Brightside. He was outstanding again in the All-Star Mile when 4th chasing a brutal speed. Provided he's still got gas in the tank, he'll be awfully hard to catch. GLOBE (9) is the big watch. Had issues in the Feehan prior to a spell. He's very talented but 1400m fresh off a long spell against some good horses is a query. ATTRITION (1) was poor in the G1 Futurity first-up but can improve. HERE TO SHOCK (4) is an each-way hope, as is THE INFERNO (3) who was quite good in the G1 William Reid fresh.
SELECTIONS: Buffalo River to win.

EAGLE FARM: RACE 7 @ 4:07 PM

STARRY EYES (5) placed here fresh before finishing only 0.4L from the winner last start. Steps up to a distance where he strikes at 50 per cent and is drawn to enjoy the favours. He is proven third up so can peak. OCEAN ZAR (14) was pulled up when well fancied last start but has won the other two times she attempted this course and distance. Draws wide but her best is good enough to win this. JUPITUS (7) switches from Melbourne and has been freshened but won his lone attempt at this journey. Can measure up. The unbeaten MAJESTIC BOOM (19) faces a tougher test but has done nothing wrong.
SELECTIONS: Starry Eyes to peak and win third up.

MORPHETTVILLE PARKS: RACE 5 @ 3:12 PM

KARAVAS (1) is a highly promising filly set to return for the R & C Jolly camp. Was an impressive winner of the G3 Ottawa on Oaks Day, beating home subsequent Blue Diamond winner Hayasugi by 2.4L. Her form is irresistible. ALL WOKE (2) lengthened nicely over the concluding stages to make an immediate impact on debut last start. Improvement to come and is drawn favourably. LINCOLNSHIRE (7) is a Starspangledbanner filly stepping out on debut for the Moody & Coleman team. Has shown ability in her jumpouts and shouldn't have to spend a penny from the draw. In the mix. Smaller cases can also be made for fellow debutants in BENDING AWAY (6) (Clarken & O'Shea) and MADAME MASERATI (8) (Kennewell & Yeomans). Worth considering in exotics.
SELECTIONS: Karavas to win.

ASCOT: RACE 9 @ 8:25 PM

MALKAR PINDARI (5) looks a nice horse on the rise after working through the grades impressively at the end of last preparation. She's won a trial in readiness for this and I love that the concussion plates come off. Still has plenty of upside and can resume on a winning note. HALATORION (1) has returned to his best since joining the Lane stable and only just missed here 3 weeks ago. He does rise in weight, but he maps beautifully for Campbell and he'll give a big sight if he runs to his last start figures. VAMPI AT PLAY (7) has been disappointing her past couple but looks to have found a nice race this time. The barrier should see her be closer than recent starts and she drops in weight for today's race. Looks an improver. CROSS STATEMENT (4) led all the way to win at Belmont last time out and should relish the inside draw this time. Can be in this for a very long way. DIVINE PAIR (6) is ticking along nicely and his form ties in through Cross Statement. Include.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Malkar Pindari in the last.
