Today’s Horse Racing Tips - 10th April 2024

3 minute read

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for April 10.

Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Gosford, Sandown, Ipswich, Gawler, Pinjarra and Launceston

GOSFORD: RACE 8 @ 4:55 PM

MEMORIA (1) drops in class and is the one to beat. Finished a close third over 1250m at Canterbury two runs back then wasn't disgraced in a Provincial Championship qualifier here at this trip last start. A good draw and handy claim tick a couple of other boxes. WAIKIKI (9) has been in the money at both runs this prep, each time over slightly shorter journeys on the Kensington track. Finding the line well and looks ready to peak now. SMART LITTLE MISS (3) came with a well-timed run to win with a bit in hand last time out over 1300m at Hawkesbury. Goes well here and her 1200m record is strong. Plenty to like about her chances. FLYING SHELLY (10) has been knocking up in races so the addition of blinkers today might be significant. LINGUEE (15) resumes. In the mix from the inside alley with the light weight.
SELECTIONS: Memoria to take out the last.

SANDOWN-LAKESIDE: RACE 8 @ 5:05 PM

BARBY'S DOLL (8) was tested in the G1 Coolmore Classic at Rosehill last start and hardly disgraced, beaten 5 lengths. Drops a long way in class. Suited here and will be hard to hold out. INDIAN JEWEL (13) is a lightly raced type who was only 3 lengths off the winner last time out and that form should hold up well here. Right in this. EXTREME VIRTUE (12) is lightly raced and can measure up off a smart maiden Pakenham win last time out. ROCK THE BAR (2) is a nice type who should take beating again.
SELECTIONS: Barby's Doll to win.

IPSWICH: RACE 6 @ 2:53 PM

MANNERHEIM (3) resumes and before spelling he led and won his Maiden here easily over this distance. He was expected to win at Doomben first up but found one better over a sprint. Needs the mile and fitter he can go one better with Maloney sticking in the saddle. Stablemate BITOFTHEBLARNEY (1) ran his best race winning the 68 at Doomben. That stacks up and Orman is a handy replacement for Maloney. He looks to have turned the corner and should be right in it. ROCKED (7) has been prepared for this with three Sunshine Coast Poly track outings. He has pieces of turf form that would see him in the finish. Peaks now and a much better effort is anticipated. ENTERPRISE LASSIE (5) brings good poly form and will be fitter. In the mix from the awkward barrier.
SELECTIONS: With Mannerheim

GAWLER: RACE 3 @ 3:00 PM

DODD (3) stuck on bravely into a narrow minor placing when resuming at Oakbank last start. Is sure to have come on with that run under his belt and is ready to get off the mark. MY CRACKLING (8) finds the maiden win elusive but rarely turns in a bad one. Carries a clear fitness edge and is drawn favourably. Can give this a big shake. NICISH (12) was only warming to her task late when resuming on the Parks track last time out, lengthening nicely over the concluding stages to just miss the frame. Improvement anticipated but is drawn ugly. Watch for her climbing over the backs late. REINE OF NINE (13) next best.
SELECTIONS: Backing Dodd to win.

PINJARRA: RACE 6 @ 6:10 PM

JANNY (4) resumed in good touch at Narrogin when only collared late in the race, beaten 0.5L. She strips fitter now and Pike hops back in the saddle having had plenty of success when riding previously. Draws the inside and should be in this for a very long way. BELTA OF A SONG (3) may not have relished the extra journey last time out and getting back to this track and trip holds the key. She was only narrowly beaten here two back and this is a similar set up today. Can bounce back. NATIVE FLOWER (1) will be fitter for a recent Belmont Trial and showed good signs in her debut campaign. Been off the scene for a little while but suspect she's come on in the break. Form from her debut prep has her in this up to her ears. EXPOROSE (8) has found a couple better at Ascot lately but draws ideally for the straight course today. Big chance. SPECIAL HEART (2) gets Chris Parnham in the saddle today and can improve.
SELECTIONS: Backing Janny.

LAUNCESTON: RACE 8 @ 9:00 PM

LORDOSIS (7) is lightly raced and improved again when nudged out this grade/trip behind Dalton Dancer. That was a strong form race and he has a key jockey switch this evening. Peaks and can go one better. GENERAL ASSEMBLY (1) led and was an easy 64 winner at Sandown-Hillside. Tackled 80 graders at Flemington over a middle distance after that and was weak late in proceedings. Has a handy 3kg claim and this suits much better. Executes this track and distance and he has a decent chance to bounce. NAVY STREET (4) deserved the CL2 win and then missed a whisker at this level over 1400m. First go at the mile but all the indications suggest it won't be a bother. RIGOLETTO (8) is much better than the numerical form suggests. He was only beaten 1.6L this grade the latest and has won twice at this distance. The 3kg claim brings him into it.
SELECTIONS: Backing Lordosis.
