All Aged Stakes day rounds out the Sydney Autumn with a deep betting card throughout.
Plenty of fantastic betting races this Saturday with the Group 1 All Aged Stakes (1400m) wide open, where you could make a case for almost all of them. Private Eye can probably still lay claim to the best horse in the race but the jury is a bit out on him.
Buffalo River might be one at odds to give cheek, Jenni-style, but all in all, found it tough to stamp one in that or the Champagne.
For the best of the day I'm going one race later to the ninth where Whinchat rates nicely and looks a very strong winning hope.
Three from four this preparation, putting up a big R&S rating of 108 which is close to the best last-start rating in the field, before taking into account he gets in with 55kg here.
Beat a smart one in Tavi Time last start and he looks to get the perfect run from the soft gate. Should land in front at peak fitness and will take an awful lot of running down, with bet365 leading the market at $5.
Has to knock off Jimmysstar who was a forgive at Newcastle and is six weeks between runs for this. His fresh run would win this, the infamous second up defeat (when well ridden!) just has him in the finish. He's got a tricky draw too, it'll be interesting to see tactics.
For the each-way play I'll take a stab at Goldman in Race 6. He didn't really come up in the Spring having been Melbourne Cup favourite (or close enough to it) before the season.
Resumes at an ideal 2000m here off two very solid hit outs and looks to get a pretty soft lead from barrier two if they want it. A bit of cut in the ground looks ideal as well. If he can find some of his prior form, towelling up Soulcombe in a Roy Higgins, he'll take plenty of catching.
