A handy nine-race card has been set out for Morphettville on Saturday, with the Listed JRA Plate (2006m) highlighting the day's action and with many live chances engaged in the feature, we look to earlier in the card to make our bank.

In race three (3), I'm keen on the chances of former-Sydneysider Outsider in her stable debut for W Clarken & N O'Shea.

This four-year-old daughter of Snitzel has shown plenty of ability in her early career, formerly under the tutelage of Chris Waller, and has been a touch unlucky to run into a few sharper ones on their way through.

While Outsider will inevitably be looking for further the deeper into the preparation she goes, the mare was a winner over this trip when resuming at Warwick Farm last time in work.

Getting in well at the weights, she strips fitter for two handy trials and is expected to be charging the hardest late in the piece, hopefully picking up all her rivals in the process.

As for the best value play, I'm confident Riverplate can turn his form around in a big way third up (5).

While admittedly Russian Dancer is a deserved favourite nnd presents as the ultimate box-ticker, it looks too good to be true and there are no spoils at the price. While in contrast, Riverplate's two runs this time in are too bad to be true, and upon closer inspection forgiveness can be forged.

The five-year-old was a complete forgive first up when suffering cardiac arrhythmia, and then got uncharacteristically too far back at Caulfield and failed to run on.

He no doubt shoulders his share of ability when up and firing and is more than capable of turning things around sharply, and further, is from a stable notorious for doing so (Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young).

Expecting a much more positive ride this time from the kinder gate and if he can find form anywhere near his best, he will prove mighty tough to reel in for his rivals.
