Racing returns to Ascot this weekend, with the Listed Detonator Stakes the feature.

Racing heads back to Ascot this Saturday for the running of the Detonator Stakes (1800m) at Listed level.

It appears a competitive race on paper, with a number of runners coming off the Perth Cup, including the feature winner Casino Seventeen.

Marocchino is the favourite at the time of writing, bypassing the Perth Cup after an impressive stretch of form through The Pinnacles.

For what it's worth, I'm with the Cup winner in Casino Seventeen.

The stable had their eyes on the Perth Cup on New Year's Day and everything the horse did was to get there in one peice. From a nice gate, if the horse is there to win on Saturday I think he can stalk Marocchino in the run and get the better of him late.

Best bet on the day comes up early in the card, with the David Harrison-trained DIVINE FLIRT.

She returned in good order first-up at Belmont, maybe just lacking a little bit of race fitness after the break.

This is a tougher race on Saturday, though she does carry less weight and her second-up record looks good for a race of this calibre.

Can be prominent from the alley for Gaerth and take plenty of running down.

Keen to be with the Jason Miller-trained BONJOY as the next best on the card.

The four-year-old mare has been superb her past couple and appears on an upward trajectory.

This race doesn't appear much tougher than she's been up against and her past two efforts are among the best ratings in the event,

While she may get a long way back in the run, the drop in weight and fact Clint Johnston-Porter sticks with the mare are both big ticks.
