The filly Mossfun is now unbeaten in three starts and her dominant performance here brought her right into serious Golden Slipper contention.

She was quickly away from her outside barrier (7) and then travelled nicely outside the leader (Law). She cruised to the lead on passing the 300m and then raced away to score easily by four lengths, relishing the Slow 7 conditions.

The maiden filly Press Report, having only her second start, was a handy third on the rails to the turn and battled on surprisingly well along the rails to take second, putting up a most encouraging effort.

Risen From Doubt was fourth one out and one back to the 600m. He moved up on turning for home and kept battling on fairly well in the straight for third. He should be improved by the run, his first the Sydney way of going and and since his impressive debut win at Flemington in October.

The Gai Waterhouse-trained colt Law led the field until the 300m and held on fairly well for fourth, beaten four and a half lengths. The Magic Millions 2YO Classic (RL, 1200m) winner Unencumbered ($4.20) resumed and appeared to travel well in sixth place, one off the rails. He switched out on straightening but he finished moderately in the conditions for fifth, beaten five lengths. Jockey Nathan Berry reported to stewards that he felt his mount did not handle the slow ground.
