The torrid pace to the home turn in this Listed juvenile event saw many gassed either early the run home or with 200m to run. The favourite Windborne won the race comfortably after getting a sit third poised behind a pair matching strides up front until the 400m. Windborne by jumping inwards at the start and being crossed after 150m may have inadvertently won the race as a result. She relaxed across the top and then when drawn out at the 300m and detonated the response was loud and proud. The time of 1:04.21 is nothing phenomenal but for juveniles it is certainly a fair gallop and was just four lengths inferior only to the Listed sprint for older gallopers later on in the card. The runner up Cinematic on debut ran on well and has scope too. She Is Stryking copped a rocky run at times and did well to keep coming and just get third and blacktype inside the final 100m, The eyecatching late run by Showboy screamed he needs 1200m and will relish further in the autumn. Thwayya flew over from a wide draw to lead on the fence after 150m but then got attacked from that point onwards to the home turn. She was out of gas and spent the final 200m and it has to be added that her attacker ran dead last beaten over thirteen lengths. Not much else could be said for the rest. The winning filly has upside and scope for the second and third fillies as they will win at least once this season themselves. The one however out of the race that looks a Group performing juvenile come the autumn in New Zealand is Showboy with 1200m and 1400m right up his alley. Forgive the filly Thwayya as she never got a breather for 600m and at her second start that was a bit much.
