This juvenile Listed event over 1100m was won on debut by the filly No More Tears that came with a sustained surge from the back to get up and win the closing stages. The daughter of Darci Brahma had solid trial form prior and was one of three in the field from the same in form yard of Stephen Marsh. The other pair ran second last and last with the most tote backing coming for the last finisher over the line in a gap Ruud Not Too. The $26 win dividend for No More Tears suggested the stable confidence was not there but the way the filly scored in 1:03.49 was a very professional performance. The leader Unsurpassed looked home for all money after kicking clear at the 300m and having a good buffer still at the 100m. The other on pace runner Thwayya fought on for third while the trailer to the home turn in Miss Wilson also tried hard when fourth. It does make the effort of the winner to come from so far back meritorious as the next three home behind here were the leader, outside leader and trailer. The fifth finisher home sat three wide handy throughout and The Justice League was a super effort overall as he never gave it away. He has the stride of a big race winner next season. Stradivarius ran on for sixth after being back and wide while Fascinate Me got home from the rear okay to finish seventh. More than one runner from this field should make a serious stakes 3yo so maybe the obvious is right in front of us and the winner No More Tears is the real deal. Her closing power impressed and how she comes up as a 3yo filly is very intriguing indeed.
