2024 AFL Round 11 Preview – MELBOURNE v ST KILDA

3 minute read

Racing and Sports will provide analysis of games in the 2024 AFL Season.

We'll endeavour to run through the form, incorporate appropriate stats and also supply a betting prediction which won't always just be who will win.

MELBOURNE v ST KILDA

Sunday 26 May @ MCG

Two sides coming off disappointments to the WA sides need to get back on track.

For Melbourne it is to stay in touch with the main contenders. For St Kilda it is to try and make the Eight.

The Demons got 'Harley Reided' on Sunday evening. Many a side will have that happen to them but few would have thought so by Game 9.

Even their greats like Petracca, Oliver and Gawn could not withstand the impact. Not aided by the Jake Lever concussion, things went south after that.

Is that where St Kilda can put any scoreboard pressure on? Just the last month they've scored 64, 72, 53 and 55 in losses plus 103 in beating North. That won't scare teams.

Some players went well like Marshall and Wanganeen-Milera but for them to win it needs the turnover off half back and Max King kicking 6+. None of that happened.

Match Melbourne St Kilda Ground
Last time they met 12.7 [79] 8.10 [58] Marvel
Last 10 matches 7 wins 3 wins
Notes Striking run of wins – St K (14 wins), Mel (3 wins), St K (3 wins), Mel (4 wins)
Both lost to the WA sides last week

Surely Melbourne is winning. Nothing else matters now. They must turn it around if Top 4 is properly their form and dropping this would not work. It might be closer than expected.

Match Selection: Melbourne by 29 points

Suggested Bets: Melbourne 1-39 @ $1.95 @ bet365
