2024 AFL Round 11 Preview – RICHMOND v ESSENDON

3 minute read

Racing and Sports will provide analysis of games in the 2024 AFL Season.

We'll endeavour to run through the form, incorporate appropriate stats and also supply a betting prediction which won't always just be who will win.

RICHMOND v ESSENDON

Saturday 25 May @ MCG

Dreamtiming at the G used to be a really fun night but one way traffic. Richmond would simply maul the Bombers.

Well that very scenario could well be the case but with the shoe on the other foot.

You cannot possibly think that the Tigers can turn around the horrid stretch they are on. Their scoring has dried up but their injury list has not.

Having to use close to 40 players by Round 10 means you lack consistency of selections, consistency of performance and consistency of criticism. The pile on begins.

While the Bombers were hardly on top of their game against a better North on Sunday, they got the job done. You can't be atop your game every week.

So much so that Zach Merrett only had 21 disposals. They did go to the big forwards with more regularity. Entry was very crisp.

Match Richmond Essendon Ground
Last time they met 10.10 [70] 10.11 [71] MCG
Last 10 matches 9 wins 1 win
Notes Dreamtime at the 'G'
Last year's 1 point win by Essendon was their first since 2014

Hard not to see a thrashing. If it's a dry night, the Bombers might love to put on 100+ but that is likely unrealistic.

Match Selection: Essendon by 62 points

Suggested Bets: Essendon -60.5 @ $3.50 @ bet365
