MATCH PREVIEW | WESTERN BULLDOGS VS CARLTON

The Bulldogs slumped to a fifth straight defeat last week at home to the Saints. 6 scoring shots to 14 was the telling stat in that loss. Finalists last season, 2023 is turning into a disaster for Nathan Burke and his side.

Carlton battled past Sydney in a tight contest at Ikon Park last week but they do lose their skipper Kerry Peterson to a knee injury for this one.

A 5-point win over the Swans at home isn't indicative of super form, and whilst they are going better than the Dogs in the W/L column, I sense an upset potential here with the Dogs to secure their first win of the season.

MATCH PREVIEW | GWS VS WEST COAST

The Eagles secured a vaulable four points last week at home to Port Adelaide and in the process snapping a horror run.

The Giants are struggling to score and have been conceding heavily as well.

At home they might find a way to sneak through this contest,  but it won't be by much, so a handicap for the Eagles is appealing here.

MATCH PREVIEW | MELBOURNE VS ADELAIDE

What a game!

Two genuine heavyweights face off in an early season indicator of who holds premiership favouritism.

Hore, Purcell, Banks and a host of others for Melbourne take on Marinoff, Hatchard, Gould and co for the Crows.

Contrasting styles, strength in the contest and scoring potency sets this up as a ripper.

Melbourne's efforts to down the Crows in last year's Qualifying final and their near unbeatable form at Casey gives them the nod in this one.

MATCH PREVIEW | ST.KILDA VS HAWTHORN

The Saints have found their feet in the past fortnight, and new recruit Jess Wardlaw has led the charge with some outstanding form.

Ex Magpie Jamie Lambert has been handy as has Molly McDonald off half back.

Hawthorn have been competitive this year, but lack the depth to challenge for long enough and the Saints should make it 3-3 on the season.

MATCH PREVIEW | PORT ADELAIDE VS SYDNEY

Sydney have certainly improved this year after a tough start to their AFLW life.

Last week's loss was a heartbreaker, with a victory potentially putting them in the unlikely frame for a finals spot.

Port Adelaide's loss on the road to the Eagles was frustrating given the progress made over the previous fortnight.

The Swans scoring power has been telling and they look to have enough avenues to goal to secure a win in this one.

MATCH PREVIEW | BRISBANE VS COLLINGWOOD

Brisbane are tracking along nicely after their Round 1 loss to Richmond, with four wins on the bounce including a thriller against North and last week's 27-point win on the road to Hawthorn.

Collingwood put their best performance of the season together at Punt Road last week, downing Essendon convincingly just hours before their Men's team won the flag.

Sabrina Frederick will look to continue her ruck dominance, but even if she does it looks like the Lions have too much talent to drop this clash at home.

MATCH PREVIEW | ESSENDON VS GEELONG

The Prespakis sisters go head to head in one of the harder games of the round to tip.

Essendon missed a chance to take a big step towards finals last week when they were soundly beaten by Collingwood.

Geelong have been ok this season but have found themselves no match for a couple of powerhouse clubs in Melbourne and North.

The lower part of the 8 might be their level, but this game will take some winning. Through the likes of McDonald and Morrison though they hold a slight edge through the middle and should sneak a close victory.

MATCH PREVIEW | RICHMOND VS GOLD COAST

An under-strength Richmond dropped a crucial clash with Fremantle last week, despite a strong finish that saw them close the gap to 7-points late.

Katie Brennan and the G-Train weren't quite able to impact enough and they'll need more support for the brilliant Conti through the middle with Fremantle controlling clearances last week.

The Gold Coast have a road win at Victoria Park already this year and would love to add Punt Road to that list.

With both Hosking's injured and no immediate relief in sight, the Suns are primed to down the Tigers and move closer to finals.

MATCH PREVIEW | FREMANTLE VS NORTH MELBOURNE

No Bowers, No Antonio, but no worries for Fremantle last week who won impressively against the Tigers at Ikon Park. Antonio may return this week but Bowers won't as they shape up against a genuine flag contender in North Melbourne.

Kauffman, Miller and Tighe led the Docker charge last week but this is a step up in challenge given the Roos depth through the middle.

Fremantle will take it up to them but North Melbourne will prevail.
