After coming 5th in 2022, it went south badly last year. Only 10 wins and a great deal of inconsistency. Plus not winning enough in Perth saw them giving away that huge advantage.
Brayshaw didn't have as good a year as the one before, Fyfe unsurprisingly not near Brownlow form and a forward line which struggles to kick scores.
Now, Sean Darcy sustains a knee injury which rules him out indefinitely, so much of the necessary workload falls on young Luke Jackson. He has rucked well alone before but this may be required for a long while this year.
They will have a ferocious rival on Sunday when the Lions come to town. Brisbane will be furious at what occurred at the Gabba.
Not just losing where certain pundits said they'd remain unbeaten but by leading by 46 before the half, it looked a doddle.
Sadly the last kick of the half cost them Keidean Coleman for not just the rest of the game but the rest of the year. He had a great game to end the year but now has to wait another.
Brisbane don't mind playing Freo and have victories at Perth Stadium too. Gut instinct says they will make a statement here.
