3 minute read

Racing and Sports will provide analysis of games in the 2024 AFL Season.

We'll endeavour to run through the form, incorporate appropriate stats and also supply a betting prediction which won't always just be who will win.

NORTH MELBOURNE v FREMANTLE

Saturday 23 March @ Marvel Stadium

This match won't hit the headlines of the AFL media but some bright stars of the future will entertain.

Obviously North have been emboldened with draft help and Fremantle some older names on the rebound.

We can say North Melbourne lost by more than 6 goals but given they were first up, away from home and against a side who could be there at the pointy end, it's not a bad mark.

And if the Giants kicked straight it might have been 10 goals but things looked a little different. Good kicking was the first step.

Sheezel, Davies-Uniacke, Powell will be supplemented with McKercher and others. Clearly they need bigger bodies but you can see a plan.

What they do get this time is an opponent severely impacted by early season and potentially longer term injury plagues.

Cox, McDonald and Worner all impact in varying ways. You plan for the season and lose players immediately so those plans are worth almost naught.

Full credit to the Dockers for the comeback. It was at home but halfway through the first, the locals were baying for blood.

Three quarters later and they'd kicked 11 goals to 1. The midfield sparked by Brayshaw and pump-primed by Serong with his 46 touches, led the charge. If they fire it takes much pressure off Fyfe.

Can they now do it after the long plane ride? The last time these even played a game in Melbourne was 2017.

Fancy that the Kangaroos are capable of causing an upset at home against an under-manned interstate side. The start at least worth a bet.

Match Selection: North Melbourne by 11 points

Suggested Bets: North Melbourne @ $3.10 @ bet365
