WESTERN BULLDOGS v GOLD COAST
Sunday 24 March @ Mars Stadium
This is the first big test for the new Gold Coast as they head to Victoria against a side coming off a disappointing kick off.
The Bulldogs were competitive until Quarter Time then were outscored 12 goals to 5 and were never looking like taking the lead back.
It isn't the best thing for this group as there was that very suspicion about them leading into the season. That isn't to say it won't change.
Tom Liberatore looks to have started where he left off last year but if Bontempelli isn't influencing games like he once did, there isn't that impact.
It is very early. But they need some inspiration that can't just come from the likes of the newcomer Ryley Sanders.
They get the chance at Ballarat to meet the Gold Coast in their opening trip away from home this season. The cold and windy likely nature of Mars Stadium will contrast with the wet and humid areas of Carrara.
Happy to be 2-0, it is now more of a challenge. Admittedly they were 6 goals up on Adelaide when the comeback began and that was just enough to hold on.
The midfield is working and the forwards are getting enough of it. If a more defensive approach comes from the Dogs, will they be as successful?
The Bulldogs have a decent record in Ballarat without being totally overwhelming. 7 wins from 11 is OK but lost the last time against GWS.
Two Gold Coast ventures there have seen the home side victorious and suggesting that will be the same again. Weather could play a big role in scoring too.
Match Selection: Western Bulldogs by 15 points
