2024 AFL Round 4 Preview – BRISBANE v NORTH MELBOURNE

3 minute read

Racing and Sports will provide analysis of games in the 2024 AFL Season.

We'll endeavour to run through the form, incorporate appropriate stats and also supply a betting prediction which won't always just be who will win.

BRISBANE v NORTH MELBOURNE

Friday 5 April @ Norwood Oval

This might be Gather Round but there has been plenty of gathering in meetings for both these sides for varying reasons in 2024.

The Grand Final side has been nothing short of poor in its first three games. They may have played decent sides but hardly ones who you would have said couldn't be beaten – especially with two at the fortress.

Brisbane has been revealed to have been dealing with extra-curricular matters and what impact that did or does have on the team is open for debate. It can't help much.

Out-tackled and unable to stop run-ons, their forwards have been under pressure to make up the difference and it's fair to say Hipwood, Cameron and to a lesser extent Daniher are nowhere in the ballpark of 2023 form.

They do find an opponent which should help them get back into the winner's list but reality is the Kangaroos are as desperate after three losses.

Fair to say their opposition either should or will play finals so they've had a tough start in the schedule. Now they snag one who will come hard.

North tried hard at stages against Carlton but class told. Their backline is so undermanned. That won't be changing fast either. Their forwards have to be more team oriented and don't go looking for the big sticks every time.

Not surprisingly, the Lions have won their last 6 against North but prior to that it was the exact reverse.

If the Kangaroos get off to a strong start, the nerves will be jangling. Probably good this is not in Melbourne but instead in the bush.

So it's Brisbane but who knows these days. Daniher might get plenty without big opponents and likes North as the opposition.
