Two sides off losses but far differing losses clash on the fast deck that is the Docklands.

The Western Bulldogs may have drawn the shortest straw of the good sides to have to meet Geelong in Adelaide.

They played really quite well and despite getting nearly 5 goals down closing on the final change, they fought hard and had hopes very late to win it.

Led by the big name mids of Treloar, Bontempelli and Liberatore, they didn't panic and kept enough pressure on to give the forwards (big and small) their chance.

It was Sam Darcy's best advertisement as well. If he can kick goals and ruck as well, he's two players in one.

While their loss was dogged, the Bombers bombed badly.

First Quarter efforts are one thing, playing for four of them is another and Essendon are not doing that. 'The Edge' was not found at the Adelaide Oval.

Zach Merrett tried hard again but he didn't have many followers. Even though Port were always going to be hard to hold off at home, this was poor.

Now they head back home but Essendon has a shocking recent history with the Doggies. In their last 10 games, its 9/1 and many of those big losses.

Yet strangely, you can sense they could lift given they are already beginning to fall behind. But happy to back the Dogs in again.
