AUSTRALIA V WEST INDIES SECOND T20I
After a tight win in a high-scoring affair down in Hobart, Australia will be looking to wrap up the series with another victory in the second T20I against the West Indies at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday night. The Aussies got off to a dream start at Blundstone Arena via an opening partnership of 93 off just eight overs between veteran David Warner (70 off 36 balls) and 'keeper-batsman Josh Inglis (39 off 25 balls) which catapulted them to an imposing 7/213 and although the visitors threatened at times to run down the extensive target, they were kept at bay by a wonderful spell from leg-spinner Adam Zampa (3/26 off four overs). There were few highlights for the Windies in the field but they also tasted success at the top of the order with opening pair Brandon King (53 off 37 balls) and Johnson Charles (42 off 25 balls) in the runs, while a late cameo from Jason Holder (34 not out off 15 balls) down at number nine, which got them to within 11 of Australia's monstrous total, showcased the depth and power within their batting unit.
BETTING STRATEGIES
A close finish in game one has ensured that the prices remain much the same for game two with the hosts firmly favoured but the Calypso Kings certainly not without a chance.
Although both sides scored plenty of runs in Hobart, what was noticeable was the difference in approach with the West Indies scoring two-thirds of their runs in boundaries, including nine sixes which shaded the seven from Australia. That was the eighth time in their past ten T20Is that they have cleared the ropes more frequently than their opponents so whilst we don't have sufficient confidence that they can square the series, we do expect them to come out on top of the maximum count.
