Perth-born ruckman Tim English has signed a two-year contract extension with the Western Bulldogs, rejecting overtures from AFL rivals in Western Australia.

Ruckman Tim English has rejected overtures from Western Australian clubs to sign a fresh AFL contract with the Western Bulldogs.

The Perth-born English had been chased by both WA-based clubs, West Coast and Fremantle, who were offering big money for the 24-year-old.

But English has opted to ink a two-year extension with the Bulldogs.

"The club is on an exciting path at the moment and I want to be a part of the success moving forward," English said in a statement on Thursday.

"We're building a strong culture at the club that is built around playing our brand of football on-field and remaining a tightknit group off it."

The new deal locks the 77-gamer to the Bulldogs until the end of the 2024 season.

English was drafted by the Dogs in 2016 with pick No.19 and has emerged this season as one of the premier rucks in the competition.

The Bulldogs' list manager Sam Power said re-signing English was a priority for the club.

"He is a much-loved teammate within our group and plays a massive role within the culture of our club," Power said.

"Tim has taken his game to the next level this season, impacting matches regularly and showcasing his unique skill set around the ground, benefitting our midfield enormously.

"We are really excited to have Tim ... display the faith he has in the direction our organisation is heading."
