Australian boxing star Tim Tszyu is in the frame to fight American pound-for-pound king Terence Crawford.
Tim Tszyu says a potential bout against American megastar Terence Crawford would be "fireworks".
Crawford, rated the world's best pound-for-pound boxer with an undefeated 40-0 record, has Tszyu (23-0) in his sights in what would be the undefeated Australian's biggest fight yet.
Crawford's trainer Bernie Davis says Tszyu, the WBO super-welterweight champion, is the best option for Crawford to fight next.
"This guy, Tszyu, is coming off a big win, beating (Brian) Mendoza," Davis told MillCity Boxing.
"Tszyu has got the country Australia behind him and has been looking good technically.
"He's been looking better every fight and he's got the (WBO) belt.
"I think that would be (ideal to fight Tszyu)."
But Crawford, a world champ in three weight divisions and the reigning WBA super-welterweight strap holder, also wants a shot at Mexican Canelo Alvarez, who has held world titles in four weight classes, and America's IBF welterweight title-holder Jaron 'Boots' Ennis.
"We (Crawford) want to move up and still make history and still have something to get up for," Davis said.
"Even though Boots is an attractive option, I think Tszyu is edging him just a little bit.
"Tszyu has fought the better competition and I think he's been looking for spectacular in his fights and he has the country behind him.
"It's another weight class to jump and it's another thing to aspire to.
"That's where I think that we'll land but the options are open."
Tszyu responded to a post on social media platform X which flagged the potential fight with: "This is fireworks for sure".
The 29-year-old beat Mendoza on the Gold Coast last October to defend his WBO junior middleweight title, which had been vacated by American Jermell Charlo.
Tszyu has since been calling out Charlo to no avail and recently described the American as "finished".
The two were scheduled to fight last January in Las Vegas for undisputed divisional honours before the American postponed after saying he'd fractured two bones in his left hand.
Charlo then reneged on a deal to fight Tszyu later in the year, instead taking a huge pay day to move up two weight divisions to take on Alvarez, who promptly pounded him in a unanimous points victory.
