Small surf continues to thwart the Margaret River Pro, with competition called off for a third successive day.

There has been only one day of heats so far at the West Australian event, which runs from April 11-21, but conditions are likely to improve on Monday and Tuesday.

Margaret River is the last chance for surfers on the Championship Tour to post results before the mid-season cut.

Local Jacob Willcox is just below the cut-line and will have a challenging round-one heat against South Africans Jordy Smith and Matthew McGillivray when the men's event starts.

Australian Sally Fitzgibbons was forced into the women's elimination round when she finished third in her heat on Thursday.

The World Surf League has confirmed Margaret River will stay on the Championship Tour until at least 2028.
