The Warriors will be without star fullback Reece Walsh for Sunday's homecoming to Auckland after he contracted COVID-19.

The club said in a statement that the 19-year-old tested positive on Friday and would miss the Warriors' first game in New Zealand since the 2019 season.

The Warriors play the Wests Tigers on Sunday at a sold-out Mt Smart Stadium, with Walsh's place likely to be taken by centre Jesse Arthars or winger Dallin Watene-Zelezniak.

Meanwhile, the club has also announced a contract extension for Freddy Lussick after the hooker made a mid-season switch from the Sydney Roosters.

Lussick, who has played three games for the club, will remain with the Warriors until the end of the 2024 season.
