Liverpool vs Wolverhampton Wanderers stats and tips: Klopp's men to get over line at Anfield

Wednesday’s Anfield clash will be the fourth time Liverpool and Wolves have met since the turn of the year.

The two sides will know each other pretty well from those games, which produced three different results.

An FA Cup draw at Anfield led to a replay which Liverpool won at Molineux, before Wolves won 3-0 in the Premier League at the start of February.

Virgil van Dijk missed all three games and it’s no surprise that his return has coincided with back-to-back clean sheets.

Liverpool have actually recorded three consecutive clean sheets in the Premier League and have lost only once at Anfield this season.

Their home form has been solid with seven wins from 11. It’s away from home where Jurgen Klopp’s men have faltered.

With 15 games to go, Klopp’s men are way off the pace and need to put a run together to get near the top four.

There’s no doubt they have the potential to do that and the Wolves game will be one that Klopp desperately wants to win to kickstart their push.

They may be without Joe Gomez and Darwin Nunez. Thiago and Luis Diaz are out and Arthur and Ibrahima Konate are also likely to miss out.

Diogo Jota is back in contention, though, and Klopp has plenty of options in attack with Cody Gakpo, Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino all fit.

The Reds average more than two goals at home, have the best home xG in the league (2.45) and look primed to see off a Wolves side who have injury worries.

Chiquinho and Sasa Kalajdzic remain sidelined, while Hwang Hee-Chan is out with a hamstring problem. Matheus Cunha was stretchered off against Fulham so Raul Jimenez could get a start up front.

Goals have been an issue for Julen Lopetegui’s men away from home - just nine in 12 games. That has been a problem that Lopetegui has addressed to a certain degree. Only Man City have stopped them netting away from home since he took charge in December.

So don’t be surprised to see Wolves score at Anfield, it just might be in vain though.
