Aleksandar Vukic will turn his attention to the French Open at Roland Garros after he was knocked out of the ATP 250 event in Lyon by second seed Alexander Bublik.

The 28-year-old Australian was beaten 6-4 6-2 having defeated world No.76 Mackenzie McDonald for his biggest ATP main-draw win on European clay, and his fourth career top-100 win in total on the surface, earlier in the week.

World No.19 Bublik fired 10 aces and saved both break points he faced to secure victory in 69 minutes.

Bublik, chasing his second title of the season, had his best result on clay this season in Madrid, where he reached the fourth round.

The Kazakh will face Russian Pavel Kotov next, but fifth-seeded American Frances Tiafoe won't feature in the quarter-finals after his 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 loss to Spain's Jaume Munar.

At the Geneva Open, Andy Murray's reprieve proved a brief one as he played just three games before losing in the first round to Yannick Hanfmann.

Murray had trailed the German by a set and a double break on Monday evening when impending storms sent the players from the court and brought play to an early end.

And Hanfmann took care of business under sunny skies on Tuesday lunchtime, needing barely 10 minutes to wrap up a 7-5 6-2 victory.

The Scot was playing his first match on the ATP Tour since suffering an ankle injury in March and he will now head to the French Open having played only three matches on clay.

The German will now take on Novak Djokovic in round two, while Murray departs for Roland Garros where he is set to play for the first time in four years.

Elsewhere in Switzerland, there was also defeat for Brit Jack Draper, with the eighth seed losing out 7-6 (8-6) 6-1 to Czech Tomas Machac.

Fourth-seeded American Ben Shelton was also eliminated, but sixth seed Tallon Griekspor of the Netherlands won in three sets.
