Alex de Minaur's Mexican love affair goes on, with the Australian tennis star winning a ninth straight match in the country to ease into the final of the ATP Tour's Los Cabos Open.

His victory sets up a clash with Greece's world No.5 and top seed Stefanos Tsitsipas, who breezed past Croatia's Borna Coric 6-3 6-2 in the other semi-final.

In March, De Minaur beat world No.14 Tommy Paul in the final of the Mexican Open in Acapulco to clinch his first ATP 500 title.

He overcame Paul again on Thursday, on his way to a semi-final match-up with Germany's seventh-seeded Dominik Koepfer at the 250 series event in Los Cabos.

De Minaur raced to a 6-2 win in the first set over Koepfer on Friday before losing a much more closely fought second in a tiebreak after at one stage trailing 4-0.

The German looked to have blown himself out, though, with De Minaur cruising to the third set to clinch a 6-2 6-7 (5-7) 6-1 win in a shade under two hours and 25 minutes.

That victory means De Minaur has now won nine matches in a row in Mexico - and he will hope to stretch that record to 10 when he faces Tsitsipas in Saturday's final (Sunday AEST).

World No.19 De Minaur's 2023 record now stands at 27-15, and he is 5-1 in this North American summer hard-court season, as he tunes up ahead of the US Open which begins on August 28.
